Question about Toshiba Satellite A70-S249 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Toshiba Satellite A70 laptop.

When I turn the power button on it lights up and the fans run for a moment and then stop.  Nothing else happens.  I have replaced the motherboard and the processor, but nothing has changed.  What else can I try?

"did you make sure that the processor is locked in position?"

I don't know how to do that.

You can try the memory try one stick at a time. also try the laptop with as little components as possible.

remove the dvd drive, hard drive and wifi card and see if it will boot.

then put each one back in at a time and try it to find the culprit

Hi Barb,

On the Toshiba A70 you should try holding down the fn key at lower left and pressing the F5 key which is the video transfer keyboard command for pretty much every Toshiba laptop. Otherwise, their little pictograms on the F keys almost always have a tiny representation of a laptop next to a monitor.

Hope this is helpful.

How to boost cooling fans on Toshiba SATELLITE A70 Laptop

There is no way to "boost" the fans. I'm assuming the fan runs.
Buy a laptop cooler from a local store. They come with USB fans that will assist with cooling. Also, never use a laptop on anything but a hard surface, never on a blanket or on your lap.

Toshiba Satellite a70-s256 fan issues

Instead, turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed-air.
Give your computer a "blow-job", to remove all the dust that has accumulated inside your computer.
The dust has been acting as "insulation", forcing the fans to run faster, and with more noise.

Cooler computer -> quieter computer.

Sounds as though your ac adapter is bad.But it could also be the power jack where the ac adapter plugs in also.

Toshiba equium m40x won't power up

whats happening is that the cpu is overheating and shutting down the computer due to your fan not spinning, if you wish to test this remove the bottom panel and remove the fan and its cooling tubes should all be one part (quite easy 3 or 4 bolts) and blow on the cpu or put a pedistal fan facing it or any other form of cooling that wont damage it, and try to start it if it boots for a while it is the fan and you will need to replace it, i had this exact problem yesterday

Becarefull,
Seems like your laptop is overheating, and it shutsdown as a way to protect the processor.
With a vaccum, **** the dirt that might be trapped in the fan or fans.
This should help.
If not, then you need to open laptop and perform a deep cleaning on the Heatsink, and apply fresh heat release compound on the processor.

A70 recover disc in A35 Laptop? (Toshiba Satellite)

Recovery disks are model-specific, mainly because they have different devices and drivers. Setup drivers are downloadable, and copied to a CD at an Internet cafe.
