Hi, i Purchased this unit today as an ex-demo. I keep getting an error that says "No detailed maps found that support routing. The Nuvi cannot be used withou them."
I have tried several different ways to try and re download the maps but with no success.
The details page shows me the original product key, and the unlock code. However i cannot find the "download again" link.
    Any help greatly recieved.

Did you ever connect your gps to your pc? If you did, your garmin should have synchronized with your pc. Let me know...

That's right blackhawk,

You can go here: https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myGarminHome.faces

Once you login, go to > Manage Maps and Downloads then > you'll the see your registered product, you then click on > Details (under Maps Associated with GPS) then you'll see the "Download Again" Under the Product Key.

Good luck! Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My gaRMIN NUVI 200 lost it's maps information. How do I recover the information. thanks

You can try contacting Garmin and seeing if they will allow you to download the map again. The file that you are looking for on the Nuvi's flash drive is "gmapprom.img". It should be within the Garmin directory on your Nuvi (using PC to Nuvi USB cable). The file will be very large, around 1GB. More information on missing maps can be found here:

I want to delete maps from my Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT to make room for different country maps. How would I do this? I have been looking for answers online and in manual for hours now with no luck. Please...

    • 1 Remove the SD card from the Garmin GPS.
    • 2 Insert SD card into your computer's card reader.
    • 3 Open the "My Computer" in either the desktop or the start button.
    • 4 Double click the SD card folder to open it.
    • 5 Hold "Ctrl" on your keyboard and left click on all the map files in the folder. Once they are all highlighted, right click and select "Copy."
    • 6 Go to your desktop, right click and select "Paste." You have created backup copies of the maps in your Garmin GPS. Return to the SD card folder via "My Computer."
    • 7 Select the map file you wish to delete, left click it once and press both "Shift" and "Delete" on your keyboard.
    • 8 Return the SD card into Garmin GPS. Turn it on. Check the screen to see if the right map has been deleted. If any mistakes are made, simply start over from step 1. Replace any map that has been accidentally deleted.

    • OR Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the Garmin. Insert the other end of the cable into the USB port on the computer.
    • 2 Click on the desktop "Start" menu, and chose the "Computer" folder.
  1. 3 Right-click on the Garmin drive folder, and select "Open." Some Garmin GPS devices (e.g., Nuvi 200 through 800 series devices) will have the map files stored here. Browse this folder for maps you want to remove, right-click on the file and select "Delete." If no map files are available, go to step 4.

  • 4 Double-click to open the "Map" folder.
  • 5 Right-click on any map file that you want to remove, and select "Delete."

    Want to update maps

Yes, you will need to download the webupdater program from Garmin to get new maps for your Nuvi 200. Transfer the files to your SD memory card and then plug that SD card into your Nuvi 200. Click on the link below to get started

I have a nuvi 200 and updated my maps online. Now, It says cannot unlock maps. What do I do?

I googled an answer. I went to "my computer" and double clicked on the device file (mass storage system), there you will see a folder named "Garmin". In this folder look for the file named gmapsupp.img , right click on this file and delete as this file is causing the maps to lock.

I can't get an update on my nuvi gps 200 for maps, even the map of Mexico.

the Nuvi 200 has an extremely small memory, less than 1gb. The US maps for the nuvi 200 only include the lower 48 for that reason. Not sure how large the map file is for Mexico but your only safe option is to contact Garmin direct.

No maps on garmin nuvie 200

You will have to send it to Garmin with the original receipt and see if they'll reload the maps the unit came with. There may be a charge for this.

Need a manual for Garmin nuvi 200. Lost manual and need to upgrade maps. Do I send the gps back to manufacturer for upgrade?

Here is the link for the full Nuvi 200 manual. No, you do not need to send the unit back. You can purchase a map online and download the map to your Nuvi using a USB to mini-USB cable.

    Removing unwanted vehicle icons

Connect your Nuvi to your PC via USB. When your PC recognizes the Nuvi, select the Nuvi using windows explorer and click on the Garmin directory within your Nuvi. You should find a folder called "vehicles". Click on that folder and you should see the vehicle files. Just click on the one you want to remove and then right-click and select delete.

Garmin Nuvi 200 2009 Map Update

Here's what worked for me. Nuvi 200 brand new w/2008 trying to upgrade to 2009.
After registering and download the map 2009, I started the install. I go to a point where I was told I needed 37MB more room. I went thru windows explorer and looked in the Nuvi. I went into the language folder and moved all of the languages I didn't need to my hard drive. I then went into the HELP folder of the Nuvi and again removed the all of the languages I did not need. I then went back to the install program and hit retry. All good from there. I hope this helps.

    Hello parteeboy24,

The on board memory in your Nuvi 200 may not have enough free space to hold the map. You may be able to free up some space by deleting maps or language packs that you don't use. (Be careful to back up any files you are going to delete.) Or you can add an optional SD memory card to the unit to increase the storage capacity on the GPS.

    Best Regards,
