The CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) could have been failing intermittently. The same problem as i have encountered same problem as yours. You will need an authorized servicing personnel to replace it for you or troubleshoot it. Thanks for using Fixya.

SOURCE: Menu Screen pops up, try to exit and goes to video 1

This could be a stuck button on the front control panel or a bad solder connection on one of the switches on the front control panel.

SOURCE: Sony KV-36FV1 TV/INPUT Problem

Your TV has "Setup" function button on its front panel. By this button, you can enter its input selection window. Before testing this, check all the interconnections once more. Download its user manual. If you feel any difficulty in downloading it, send your email address to me and get a copy of it back by return mail. It has all wiring illustrations. If wiring is correct, it should accept the DVR signal.

Hi
No ,but make certain that set is unpluged from mains before removing back if you do have to removed the eht anode connector for any reason then discharge by inserting s screew driver blade with a wire and crock clip attached clip to braiding on crt bulb> if a fuse is blow find out why before replacing mighy be faulty diode or power tranistor.

Sony Trinitron, no picture, sound works fine.

There are potentially dangerous high voltages present inside the set even when unplugged, so caution is required. That being said, if you can solder, you may be able to resolve this. If the picture returns with movement, it is possible that the problem is poor solder connections. Try removing the back and sliding out the main board. Resolder any connections that appear grasiny or have rings. That may resolve the problem.

Sony Trinitron experiences

The screen control inside the set may be on the highvoltage transformer or on the crt socket; either way if you can turn it up just a little clockwise and the picture comes up but doesn't look good you are likely to have a bad tube. Or try tapping lightly on the glass neck and watch the picture as you tap. If it reacts to the tap you have a bad tube. but the turning the screen control is the best test. Turn it the other way the picture goes off immediately. bad tube: too costly if it is available.

Sony FD Trinition WEGA KV-32fs120 32" (no picture)

If the standby light is blinking 5 times then repeating, it is likely a problem in your picture tube or related circuitry. Other possibilities include the "Jungle" IC which takes care of the video, chroma and deflection processes and is a bear to replace. Either way, it could be an expensive repair.
