Did you install any hardware or windows updates? The reason its restarting is its getting a blue screen error but its setup to restart on error so its happening so fast you dont get to see the error..... Try hitting F8 right after the boot screen to get some windows options and try to enter into safemode.... If you can odds are its related to a windows update or something newly installed

My laptop that has window xp just keep on rebooting and it just stuck on safe mode and dosnt want to go anywhere but reboot every time

It sounds like you have automatically reboot on error turned on which is Windows defualt. (dumb idea Microsoft). When you get the black and white screen that gives you several options to start your computer, one will be to turn off automatic restart.

Your computer will boot and you will get an blue error screen. That error will help you determine what is broken.

An alternative is to try last known good configuration, but I've never had much luck with that option.

Spontaneous Rebooting

Hi ,
Which anti-virus have you tried to install and reinstall as it can happen if its not properly installed. Please check if its manually uninstalled. Try rebooting the system in safe mode . Go to Run type msconfig and select Normal Startup save and reboot.

Black screen, curser still appears.

Turn off the laptop and keep pressing the F8 key to get to the boot menu. At that point, choose safe mode. If you can get into safe mode then go into system restore and choose the last date that the laptop was working properly. The system will reboot at that point and hopefully it will go into windows normally.

If you can't get into safe mode then that means windows is corrupted and you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and reinstall windows and the device drivers for your hardware.

Dell dimension 3000. Just Black Screen no Windows XP.

From your description, you were able to boot the machine properly in Safe Mode. While in Safe Mode, change the video resolution to the lowest possible (color depth does not matter at this point). You should also check that you are configured for single monitor operation if your video card supports multiple monitors. Reboot the machine normally. If all goes well, you can readjust your video settings for a higher resolution again.

My computer wont work

There are many possible causes for this kind of problem. With Safe Mode not booting, though, the possible fixes become few. Your best bet is to put your Windows CD/DVD in the drive and reboot the system by turning it off and back on or hitting the reset button - hitting enter or CTL-ALT-DEL won't give you the kind of reboot you need.

As the system is rebooting, keep watch on the screen near the bottom - you *may* need to hit a key to get the computer to boot from the CD/DVD. Once it's started to boot from the CD/DVD, follow the prompts to re-install Windows.

If you get an option to format the drive, don't do it! Just choose to keep the file system unchanged.

Good Luck!
