Question about AOC A20E221 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television

Open Question

AOC TV model A20E221 changes input source by itself

AOC TV model A20E221 changes Tv/Video input source by itself every 2 minutes. Have to scroll through A1, A2, composite to return to a TV program. Removed batteries from remote control ad still have the problem. Happens at three different locations around town, so not a frequency interference problem.

SOURCE: AOC Plasma TV turns on by itself and changes channels non stop.

I have an AOC 32" LCD HDTV and it turns on by itself as well. Tuning is done via my cable box, so the tv is set on HDMI and I don't have the channel changing issue. I as well am trying to figure it out. The only thing I could suggest is perhaps the remote batteries are low and triggering on it's own. Try changing the batteries, or ensure that the remove it in a drawer or other room so that triggering the unit is impossible. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Hi bought a 42

Normally, these remotes are programmable, I suspect that your remote lost it's programming maybe due to low battery condition. Look in your manual as how to reprogram your remote.

I have lost the remote for my tv. How can I change from tv to video on the tv itself? I have tried hitting the source button then scrolling to video with the channel buttons but nothing happens

Unfortunately with most tv's today, you can't do much other than change channels or volume control without a remote.
Do you have an input button on the tv, if so, that will allow you to change from TV to video.

Hooked up a Directv box to the tv, with rca cables(red white yellow). How do I get the tv to show the right screen for a picture? Model # 6432GG

The Remote for the TV set itself should have either a input or source button on it (some call it tv/video) If you are hooked to a set with more than one set of the jacks they will be labeled video 1 or 2 etc.

simply with the remote for the tv change inputs until you either see the picture or the display matches the location you plugged into.

F27442 - How to display signal from front panel RCA video input

Hello,
To display signal from that input you will need to change the input on the tv. This can be done either on the front of the tv, or by using your remote control. First power on and connect the desired source. Next on the tv or on your remote, press a button labeled either source or tv /video and scroll through by continuously pressing until you see the source you connected appear on the tv display.
Good Luck

Envision model A20E221 unit does not power on. Blue light blinks,no sound, no indication unit is on. Is it time for a new unit or is there a less costly fix?

Hello,

your TV is having a power problem. The power supply board is defective that's why the TV won't power up. Its receiving power but it cannot transfer the current to the necessary part of the TV because a capacitor, diode, etc may have been faulty. Until these bad components are replaced, the TV might not come on.

If you know about TV repairers, I would suggest that you open the TV and read the power board/panel with a meter, detect the bad component and replace it. Take note that TV stores a lot of current that can shock, so leave the TV for a while before you open it.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you.

Now, the cost of repairs will determine whether or not you should purchase a new unit. If the cost of repairs is very expensive, then it would be better you go for a new unit.

I wish you good luck.

The tv that i have is a old model and does not have a hook up for a dvd player so i bought a s video cord but i don't have the remote for the tv to switch it to video so do i have to buy a converter

Maybe. What tv do you have? Does it have any buttons on the tv itself (other than the power button)? (Some older TVs reached the "change source feature" by scrolling up (past all channels) or down (below channel) with the channel up/down buttons. Unfortunately if you can't reset the channel skip list from the TV itself, this may not work - if that source is currently skipped.)

You may be able to get a replacement of the original remote or a universal remote that has a compatible source/input button code. (This may take a higher end universal remote.) Try remotes.com for a direct substitute remote (search on the tv model without including the brand).

If neither of these suggestions work out, then you should consider the RF modulator (video to RF converter) and setting the TV to channel 3 or 4, as needed.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(if you provide the model, I'll check my pile of manuals to see if there was a channel down/up option for changing the source. I can also check if remotes.com has a compatible remote for you.)

Video input source is changed by the buttons:
1. Video Source
2. Input
3. TV/Video
4. Source

one of those four on the remote some where.

Also, chances are your TV itself will have one of those buttons somewhere.
Usually pressing it will either cycle through the inputs or bring up a selection of them, which is usually navigated by either arrow buttons on your remote or the channel up and down keys.
Lemme know how it goes.

You're gonna wanna cycle the video input by pressing
1. Video Source
2. Input
3. TV/Video
4. Source

on your remote or your TV itself. Eventually you'll find it.

Input problem

If you have the original remote, hit video, source, or input button, if it dont have them, then try to change the tv to channel 00 (zero or zerozero), if not then the channels might have to scroll to it, from channel 02 down to make it loop, if it goes to the next highest channel, then you need a remote. It may be set in the menu options to have the video source not saved to your list of saved channels. when you scan the channels, the tv might not look for the A/V source (audio / video), maybe just the RF source. The 3 DVD RCA wires are 1 video and 2 stereo, one stereo for left and one stereo for right. The TV has only 2 , 1 for video and 1 for mono 1 channel sound. This wouldnt have anything to do with why you cant use the DVD player. but try that with the original remote (or a universal remote that is set to your tv set that has either video, input, source or something similar. It is what tells the tv to change from the cable source (RF) and the AV source (the Red White and Yellow plugs, in your TV's case, 2 plugs, one yellow and the other either red or white or something). Dont really know how to explain it much more but hope it helps.
