Firstly you are the only person i know of with a mr710 other than myself mine still has serial no on it 00054.To me this says not many made. i could not find a blade for mine so done my own mods with cox swivel blades but do not know of any others in australia. I can not even find any info on net. honda motors with vertical shaft are not common but never give up like all hondas. try the mower shops as an alternative. hope this may help

I also have a Morrison Rapier 710 slasher. Ebay seller based in Thailand has new aftermarket parts to suit Honda GV400 engines. I purchased new coil, condensor and points for $51.50. This seller has a carby listed to suit an 11HP Honda motor and I have just sent an enquiry to see whether or not this can be adapted to a GV400 engine.

Is the choke supposed to be forward or back to start the mower? The cable is worn so the choke has to be set with a screwdriver.

The best way to check if the choke is on is to remove the air filter. If you look into the air intake on the carburettor, the choke is on when the choke plate blocks the intake.

MTD front wheel drive self-propelled 21". Self-propelled does not work. Can it be fixed?

Yes it can be fixed. Try some basics first.
1) Check under belt drive cover for excess debris
2) Belt and Idler pulley condition
3) Control cable operation
a) rusted, frozen, broken, disconnected

Self-propelled feature does not work at all! Any suggestions?

You might have a broken belt to the self propelled or a broken spring or whatever engages the self propel. Take off the cover and see if anything is broken or missing. Have someone engage the self propel while you are watching and see what is going on.
