Question about Moultrie Game Spy M-990i

Open Question

I get occasional whiteout photos during the day. You can see the objects but they are not in color and have a washed out appearance. I sent the camera back and they did some testing and sent it back to me indicating no issues noted. I just put it back out in the woods and pulled the card. I only had 18 pics on it but the last three were the same type scenario as before and they were all taken between 9:30 and 10:00 AM. Have you heard of that before? Any suggestions?

SOURCE: camera worked great the first

O.K.,I assume you use two SD cards, take out the one in the camera, put a blank one in the camera, and bring the one that was in the camera home to review pics on your PC...unless you have a laptop you carry to the field with you.Either case, you viewed SD card and nothing...switch on side of card pushed forward toward contacts?Always deleted pics using camera's delete function..NEVER DELETE USING PC;NEVER FORMAT USING PC;...
Moultrie says to only use high quality SD's...recommend Sandisk or Lexar...I never had problems with any SD as long as I stay with name brands...I find I have accidently moved write protect switch; deleted before thought from PC...or PC says card needs formatting before use...DON'T..this is just PC not recognizing card's format..try different cards, they do get corrupted...make sure card insertion slot is free of debris...blow it out with contact cleaner/duster,ect....then the M80 has a software upgrade from www.moultriefeeders.com.

Racheting Noise and not working

could be a bad cam. take off the button on top of the agitator. there should be a cam assembly underneath. they are just little plastic tear drop shaped objects that wear out quickly and need to be replaced occasionally.

Canon will repair that problem for free. I'm assuming you mean Canon when you say "Dealer". If not, hope you were not paying money for those previous repairs. Recommend not letting anyone but Canon touch that camera. Please see the following:

If the pink & white pics are a small percentage of your photos you should probably just live with it. I have 6 cameras in operation for 2 yrs & they have about 10% like this. Great pics otherwise. Probably caused by the angle of the sun or reflection of the flash off a nearby object.

Problem with color quality - Canon PIXMA iP4000

i had this problem... its the ink! Check you are using magenta and NOT "photo magenta", and also that you are using "cyan" and NOT "PHOTO cyan"... basically photo cyan, photo magenta and photo yellow are not designed for the ip4000, if you check the smallprint on the box it does not list the ip4000.

This exact problem happened to me and it was driving me crazy. I think the "photo" versions of the inks are for printers that take two tanks of each colour, and the photo version is used for very subtle colours... so if you are ONLY using these inks, photos will appear washed out, yellow etc

This sounds like a budding CCD problem that Canon is aware of. Canon is replacing the defective CCD at no charge.
