No brand mentioned ..... generally it is threading / tension settings.
Unthread it, then rethread. It is best to back off the tension dials when threading. Use good quality thread......

Testimonial: "union special, one of the needles was not positioned correctly which did help along with re- threading and adjusting tensions. it is still missing stitches which i am guessing involves a mechanic to service and adjust timing. thanks fo r your help"

My machine will chain without fabric but as soon as I place fabric and sew it will not make stitches on fabric

Be sure to use brand new needles in the machine (confirm they are the correct needles for the machine) and make sure they are installed facing the correct direction and pushed all the way up before tightened. Start a chain without the fabric, then when it's a couple inches long, raise the presser foot and add the fabric.

Could be your machine has a timing issue and probably requires service.

I have a singer serger 14SH654, I have threaded it ok, (checked and double checked), and it's sewing ok, but whenever I go to remove the item I'm sewing the "yellow" looper always thread always breaks,...

I try not to pull the threads when removing my fabric from the serger. Instead when the fabric has cleared the needles, continue to sew a chain of about 5-6 inches, then simply cut it with scissors leaving part of the chain attached to the fabric and the rest of the chain attached to the machine.

since the serger is making no chain
try new needles
rethread carefully
could also be a timing problem,, would need to be checked at a sewing machine shop

Not creating chain

the question is put under the babylock catagory
I would suggest since it's a babylock to have the machine serviced

Serger won't chain off a stitch. Stitches won't chain and hold to fabric. Added new needle, rethreaded whole machine. Stitches won't connect to fabric or make a chain.

is it possible that the needles are in backwards?
it's very possible that the machine is out of time & would have to be taken to a sewing machine repair shop to be retimed

Won't form a chain stitch

You 910 serger doesn't have the option for a Chain Stitch. It is a 2, 3, or 4 thread serger. You can do a good number of different stitches but a chain stich is not one of them.

If what you mean it that it won't "chain off", meaning sew with no fabric beneath the foot as you gently pull the thread towards the rear of the machine, that could be for a number of different reasons. First, change the needles and unthread the machine and start over. If the threads are not exactly where they should be, your serger won't sew correctly. A great video on threading your machine can be seen at:http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/mediafiles/huskylock/index_en.html
