It is hard to explain but there is a metal pin on one of the mechanisms it can become bent out of place. you need to remove it and heat it up and put back straight. dont try to bend it straight as it will snap or the pin will come out of the metal part.

Kodak Ektagraphic AF-1 will not advance or reverse

If the select button functions correctly, Chances are the direction lever in the mechanism is bound up or the Direction Lever Spring is broken. If the Spring is broken or the Direction Lever is bound up, the Index Lever will go out straight when the Advance / Reverse buttons are pushed - instead of moving out straight , then moving forward or reverse at a 45 degree angle.
The Slide Change mechanism needs to be re-built. The bad news is this projector was manufactured from 1976 to 1984. Kodak scrapped the repair parts in the early 1990's. Your best bet is to find a repair shop that has a projector that they can salvage parts for your projector from.... Good Luck !!

Kodak Slide Projector not moving carousel

Chances are that the LINK that connects the cycle solenoid plunger to the cycle lever is broken. This happens a lot on this generation of projectors. You can purchase the parts from: www.micro-tools.com, as Kodak no longer stocks parts. micro-tools should be able to provide installation instructions! Good Luck!

Kodak 860 h doesn't drop a slide or moves forward-backward

Because of it's age, your projector needs either a solenoid link or a timing adjustment to the slide change mechanism. Either one should not be attempted documentation and training. I recommend Langie Audio-Video on Commercial Street in East Rochester, NY. They still has factory-trained technicians.

Just bought a kodak 650H slide projector and i put a tray with slides on the projector but it doesn't lock in or advance.

Chances are the projector you bought needs a slide change solenoid link or at the very least, an adjustment to the timing of the slide changing mechanism.

I bought a used kodak 650 carousel slide projector and i can't get the slide tray to load. Is it because it came with a 140 slide tray instead of an 80 slide tray?

The KODAK Carousel 650 was manufactured approximately between 1964 and 1971.
Try removing the tray and pressing the cycle button(s) on the side of the projector. Watch the levers in the cut-out on the top of the projector. The lever closest to the rear of the projector should move back & forth (as you actuate the cycle buttons). The lever toward the front of the projector should extend and push forward (front of the projector) when you push the "forward" button, & extend and push toward the rear in reverse. If you are not seeing these levers move as described, then the chances of your projector needing a repair are likely. The good news: parts are still available. The bad news: You will have to find a factory-trained repair dealer to make the repairs for you.

Tray will not advance

The problem you describe is most likely a broken spring on the lever that moves the tray forward or reverse. The repair requires dis-assembly of the projector and the slide change mechanism and adjustment after re-assembly. I recommend you contact a factory trained repair dealer to make the repair.

Everything works except for ther forward and backward rotation mechanism. When these buttons are pressed there is a buzzing sound perhap indication a motor problem?

This is a very common problem with these old Kodak projectors and is caused by a small part called the solenoid link that can be purchased separately or as part of this kit: https://www.micro-tools.com/store/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=KODAK-KIT

There is also a guy on eBay, "atomk", who sells kits with very clear instructions on how to repair this problem yourself. Search for "Kodak Carousel Projector ADVANCE Repair Kit".

Good luck!
