If the loops are on the bottom it means either the top tension is too loose or the lower tension is too tight. It can also mean that the thread is snagging on something in the bobbin case area.

Why stitches on top are great but bottom are loose and loopy?

Check your upper threading. Make sure it's between your tension discs. Remember loops on bottom, something is wrong with upper threading/tension. Loops on top something is wrong in the bobbin area (like the bobbin being in upside down or a loose bobbin tension spring)

start by rethreading the top thread with the presser foot UP.

Bottom thread is looping on top of fabric on my Singer Futura 400 machine

Thread looping can also be caused by the use of adhesive stabilizers. During embroidery, your needle can gum up. Try floating a sheet of wax paper on the bottom to see if that might be the cause (along with the above solutions, of course).

i should know whether the loop is upside or downward, its opposite tension adjustment , if the loop is downward position, tighten the upper thread tension , if the loop is upward then tighten the lower bobbin tension

L2525 tension

Which tension? If it's the upper tension (loops on the bottom of the fabric), rethread the top from scratch, this time with the presser foot UP so the thread can enter between the tension disks. Presser foot down to sew, which engages the tension.

I have a Singer 3140, and I have misplaced the book. I need to adjust the tension so that the threads are balanced, but have forgotten the correct procedure.

Get some scrap of the fabric you'll use.

Remember this phrase. Loops on bottom top tension too loose. Loops on top... top tension too tight. (or bobbin tension too loose)

In your case you need to loosen the top tension until you start to see loops on the bottom... then tighten it slightly.

Here's a manual for future reference

This is the first time I've used my machine. I can't get it to stitch correctly. There are always looped threads on the bottom. I've changed the tension up and down and I still have the loops. I've...

Check the manual again and make sure you have it threaded correctly. It still sounds like there isn't enough top tension. Perhaps you missed something in threading it.

Mass bunching of thread in the bobbin compartment

it had nothing to do with the shuttle, it is the upper thread is not in the tensioner. lift the presser foot up and thread the machine even if you have to hold the thread on the top and pull on the bottom to make it go in the tensioner it will help, if a machine loops on the bottom it is the upper tension if it loops on the top it is the lower tension

I can't get the thread tension right. The bobbin thread comes up through the top and makes bumps. The underneath is loopy and uneven. It's brand new, right out of the box!

Try this..
1) set your tension @ 4
2) rethread your machine up to the needle
3) lower presser foot
4)pull thread . If it pulls hard, machine is threaded right. If it pulls easily, it's not.

Rule of thumb:: Loops on the top, problem is on the bottom.
Loops on the bottom, problem is on the top.
Hope this helps.

Bottom thread is looping.

If the thread is looping on the bottom, then your problem is on the top. Pull the thread out of the needle and and put the presser foot down. If the thread pulls thru easily, then you need to rethread your machine making sure the thread is thru the top tension wheel correctly.

Rule of thumb::
Loops on the bottom, Problem on the top
Loops on the top, problem on the bottom.

Top tension adjustment

Believe it or not, most computerized machines have an automatic tension. This works well providing, the thread is thru the tension wheel setup.
But for further reference,
loops on the bottom-- problem on the top.
loops on the top--problem on the bottom.
