The key with the letter "I" Is not connected on the inside with the metal arm . All the other keys are hooked onto a bar that allows them to work. Can this be put back on...if so..how...and by whom. Can I do this with some basic instruction?
Hi: you should be able to do it yourself. Flip the typewriter up on its end. As you can see all the typebars are connected in the same way.
You need to find the sub link that popped of the I typebar. It might be bent. Move the two keys that are adjacent to the letter I and you should be able to find the sub link that came off. Straighten it out and use a flat tip screw driver to open the clip on the end of the sub link and connect it back on the end of the typebar.
Good Luck
Andrew

Could be the printhead is at the right margin. But, if you hit the return key and nothing happins, it could be a bad board, power supply or transport motor. When you turn the machine on, does the printhead move all the way to the left, spin the printwheel and move to a set position?

1) Move the print carrier to the center of the platen using the SPACE and back arrow.
2) You will see a lever on the right side of the carrier. Pull this lever toward you and
lift out the daisy wheel.
3) Place the daisy wheel into the slot with the characters facing the platen.
4) Push the lever back into position.
5) Press the CODE and = (SETTING) key.
