SOURCE: montgomery ward air compressor model xer-6418b

From where does it leak the oil? Many compressors have oilers to keep lines lubed, so on and so forth... Have you drained the tank recently? If its leaking from the compression head assembly? what ever you do dont let that run dry or it will seize and then you have trash.

Pump is leaking. It is a Montomery Ward 700 model 24141 single stage convertible jet pump LJS/2A7

Montgomery Ward sold pumps under their name, but they didn't manufacture the,. They originally where manufactured by Peabody Barnes, which was later purchased by Ward Pumps. With all of this said, the model you have was discontinued some years ago, which will make finding replacement parts difficult at best. However, a local plumber or well driller in your area may be able to help you.

Transmission oil in the radiator

If the radiator has tranny fluid mixed in with the coolant, then you have an internal tranny cooler leak. At the one side of the tranny, in the saddle tank, there is a tube. This tube allows hot tranny fluid to enter the rad and be cooled before returning to the transmission. It should be totally isolated and submerged in the coolant tank. Occasionally they can leak, and the two fluids will mix. You will need a new rad to repair the problem. It would also be recommended to have the tranny fluid and the coolant flushed after wards. Oil of any kind does not mix well with coolant, and could cause future damage to the tranny more so than the engine.

The fridge isn't cooling though the freezer half is working fine. It was recently transported quite a distance in its side (well braced and padded), and left to stand 20 hours before being plugged in. We...

There are 2 reasons. While transporting if they lifted with won wards to discharge side, chances are there to oil entering. And while switch on it starts pumping the oil.Secondly, chance for gas leak.
It's advisable to remove gas and check for leak. If no leak, flush out the system and replace drier.
Vacuum and do gas charging. Please write if it's helpful.

2.0 Cubic Inch Montgomery Ward gas chain saw, 10 inch cutting bar

Fuel/Oil Mixture
  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
  2. Any fuel containing ethanol is not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few months. Anything over 3 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH

We have an old Wards oil furnace that we want to sell

actually a used furnace, especially an oil one isn't worth a whole lot, except to the right person. I would suggest "Craigslist" $100.00 maybe?
