I had a "carriage jam" error message.

My son gently wiped down the metalic strip that tells the carriage where it is. It worked for a couple of days and then the "carriage jam" message came back.

I took my 7210 apart, took the drive belt off/put it back on (not easy), and found nothing wrong with it. So, I put it back together. I noticed that if I pushed the print carriage all the way to the left, closed the lid, and pressed "OK", the print carriage would move a couple of inches to the right. It did this repeatedly. I figured the motor was working, but there was too much friction on the carriage. I put some 3-in-one oil on my finger and put a thin coat on the front, top, and back of the rod that the print carriage rides on. I then ran the carriage back and forth about 20 times. I closed the lid and it works fine.

I had the same problem with my DVD player. The head was hanging up on the two chrome plated rods that supported the head. I put some 3-in-one oil on the rods, ran the head back and forth, and it has worked ever since.

You might also check the belt to make sure that there is nothing that might cause it to hang-up.

SolutionStep one: Perform a power reset and connect the printer directly into the electrical outlet Remove all the paper loaded in the main input tray.
Make sure that the product is turned off. 
Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the product.
Disconnect the power cord from the product.
Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and wait 10 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord directly into the electrical outlet and check for the following.
Make sure that the power cord used is the one provided with the product.
If a computer is connected to the product, make sure that the computer is connected to a grounded (three-prong) wall outlet.
Make sure that the power cord is firmly connected to both the product and the power supply.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
Press the power button ( ) to turn on the product.
Reconnect the USB cable to the back of the product.
If the issue is resolved, proceed to Step six: Print a self-test page.
If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.

If there isn't a cartridge jam then it's probably a carriage jam:
However, I'm not too familiar with clearing a carriage jam. I just know that if your cartridges are not blocked then the carriage is likely at fault. You will need to Google this on how to fix a carriage jam.

My Hp 1320 is printing previous jobs on current print outs and is jamming paper


Check the following steps for fixing Hp Carriage Jam Error :

Open the print carriage access door. Check for any packing material that may be blocking the internal components. Check for an orange shipping lock that may still be in place on the left side. Pull the shipping lock out, if present, and discard.

Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are properly installed. Lift the front center of the print carriage access door to open it. Lift the door up until it locks into an open position. Press down on a print cartridge and allow it to spring back up. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. Do the same for the other cartridge. Slide the black cartridge into the slot on the left and the color cartridge into the slot on the right. Press down on each one to lock it into place. Lower the print carriage access door.

Check the print cartridges to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Remove any tape or labels. Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Push in on the tab on the left side of the clean-out door on the back of the printer to open the door. Lift the door out of the printer. Check for any paper jams. Jammed paper can block the printer cartridge carriage from moving. Pull any jammed paper out.

False paper jam reading.keeps say to clear paperjam. called HP and they said its a common problem,too expensive to fix,buya new one from us for 300 bucks

Carriage jam


Step 1: Move the carriage to the center manually if necessary If the carriage is stuck on the right or left side of the product, follow these steps to move the carriage to the center of the product.
Step 2: Check for a broken carriage chute
The carriage chute is the side wall of the carriage that holds a curved metal piece (the x-bias spring). A broken carriage chute might cause the carriage jam condition.
Step 3: Turn the product off and on again
Step 4: Clear any paper jam.
Step 5: Make sure that the control panel faceplate is correctly installed
Step 6: Plug the All-in-One directly into a wall outlet
Step 7: Perform a partial reset
Step 8: Print a self-test page

Step 9: Service the product. Now this model is outdated as per HP website.
