Your question is not clear. It is posted in the TV receivers & DVR section but you mention a roof top aerial. Can you provide more detail?

Need fm aerial to suit above

The best FM aerials are those that go on roofs. Your local TV aerial installer should also be able to supply and advise you on the best FM aerial.

How do I get my antenna off on a 1988 Nissan pulsar?

I can't find information on your model but generally a car aerial doesn't represent many problems unless it is a roof aerial sited in the centre front or rear of the roof. In this case it is usually necessary to access the underside of the aerial.
If the aerial is at the corner of the roof, retracting into a windscreen pillar, the manual versions sometimes withdraw upwards after releasing a single screw but sometimes they must be withdrawn downwards, especially if it is an electrically operated version. In this case access is usually restricted and there is limited room to withdraw the unit. Replacing this type of aerial is usually a struggle from start to finish entailing the removal of under-dash units, carpet, insulation and so forth.

Good luck!

Why are roof tiles, under TV aerials, discoloured on most roofs?

Most of the discolouration I see has got nothing to do with the metal, which is usually a fairly inert aluminium covered in aluminium oxide. What does seem to happen quite a lot is birds sit on the aerials and just do what comes naturally - leaving behind a bit of a stain. I spent a few years at sea and saw an albatross roost on a rotating radar aerial overnight. The next morning the deck underneath was a mess of semi-digested fish, a huge amount for just one bird! Here you will get more information about aerials.

VW Polo 1.0 1999, Aerial not working

It is usually best to check an aerial from the radio end with an ohmmeter or continuity checker. The aerial cable is a coaxial cable with a centre core that carries the signal and an outer braid that when properly grounded keeps interference to a minimum.

Measuring between the centre and the outer there should be an infinity reading on an ohmmeter, indicating no short circuits in the cable or aerial base. Measuring between the outer and a good ground the reading should be very low, no more than a few ohms indicating a good ground connection to the aerial base and of the aerial base to the bodywork.
The next test is simple and tricky at the same time as one lead of the meter will need extending. Remove the aerial mast and test for a very low reading of just 2 or 3 ohms between the cable centre and the stud or socket where the mast mounts. If all tests are fine it indicates the mast has an internal fault. If the tests aren't fine the cause is fairly intuitive.

To some extent you can perform the tests at the aerial base but the results will be limited due to the physical connection between the cable and aerial base won't be part of the test.

You need to be aware some installations are fitted with an aerial amplifier which can confuse matters and make checking more difficult.

Why does my radio on a Corsa Design 2007 only pick up the bbc radio channels? I have just bought the car.I have no arial on the top of the car.

You should have an Aerial mast on the roof of the car, it should be situated at the rear of the roof in the centre. All Corsa`s come fitted with an Aerial as standard so it should be there. If it is missing or broken then you will only be able to pick up the BBC stations as they have the strongest signal strength.

The Aerial consists of a base section attached directly to the roof and a mast which is removable from the base by simply unscrewing it, it`s not uncommon for the mast section to get pinched as it`s easily removable but they can be bought separately from any any vauxhall dealer and are easily replaced.

Hope this helps and thanks for using fixya

We moved house and when we set the tv up, the set top box kept saying "no signal"

Check you have an aerial connected to the lead you are using.
If the aerial is on the roof, has it got an inline box about 18" from the aerial? If it has it is a mast head amplifier and requires a power supply to work.
Hope that helps.

Coaxle cable (from aerial on roof to TV or top box)

I believe that you use the same type of connector as in the UK.

If so, this site or this video should help you.

Even if your connector is a slightly different design, the principles are the same.

Hope this helps,
