  • What makes you think the "final keep blowing?" Where have you been getting them before? Your radio uses two 2SC1969 final transistors. The reason they blow is because of heat return down the coax. This is call a high SWR (Standing Wave Ratio). I always recommend to have an inline meter to check your SWR.

  • As for where to get them they are near impossible but I have found a place I can say is 100% reliable. For that I will ask you to please see my tip. http://www.fixya.com/support/r10286017-get_functioning_2sc1969_2sc2166_other Don't get ripped off from cheap made in China 2SC1969. This guy has them made just for his little company and I have done countless repairs with his transistors and never had a fail.

Check bias and check your SWR. Also make sure your coax is not excessively leaky, and also check the loading coil inside the antenna to make sure the coil connections have not become all corroded and that their connections are sound.

I have a magnum 1012 and did a simple rf tune up by adjusting the rf pot now won't tx checked final ok now what?

You probably adjusted the wrong one. Put the POT back to where it was, and hope that things start working again. If they don't you are going to need to take it to someone who knows radio electronics, and has the proper test equipment, in order get the unit working again.

Hi mys9 with 1969 finals transmitts at about 15 watts, non variable on fm 3 watts variable--and peaks at 40 watts on am..ssb is about 5 watts.is this a final problem? many thank les

In answer to your question, no, it is no a problem with the final. I would try turning the ALC control (VR12) until you have 45 Watts out. (Ref Magnum S9 alignment procedure on CBtricks.com.

How to increase modulation on a magnum s-6

Hello there:
you can either get a power mic or
i would send the radion in to have it tuned up costs about 45.00 but well worth it.
But if you are familiar with these radios you can open the cover on the radio and look at where the antenna goes into there is going to be 2 square aluminum pieces with a verry small flat head screwdriver and make verry small adjustments WARNING IF YOU OVERADJUST THESE YOU WILL BURN THE FINALS OF THE RADIO ok?
best regards mike

Magnum 257 it will not transmit on lsb or usb it will on am and f

With SSB you have to put audio on the carrier you cant just key the microphone and expect it to output a signal unless you talk into the microphone at the same time this is how SSB works.
So if you talk and the meter starts to move then its ok, if you talk or whistle and nothing moves then the circuit on the SSB side of the unit is faulty.
