I would take a Close look at the Connection itself on the back of the Tv and verify its not broke and theres no dirt or dust in it..... somtimes dirt and dust can cause such an error... of course connecting something to it is a possible solution ... like an ps3 or xbox

How best connect external DVD to TV: Composite or Component? Both available on both units

If the TV does have a component input, that will be your best choice. Component video provides an HD signal; composite is only an SD (480i) signal. However, if the TV doesn't have 3 RCA ports (red, green and blue) for the video itself, in addition to the red/white RCA audio ports, you may be missing an adapter that allows the port to be used properly. You'll need to set the TV to the external video input with a Source or Input button on the TV or the remote. If you press the DVD button on the remote, the TV will only attempt to get the signal from the internal DVD.

Please add a comment with the make and model of your TV for additional information. A number of TVs (like some LG models) share the composite and component inputs and use an adapter to reduce the input to a smaller area on the TV. Without the adapter, the TV can't correctly identify the signal. The component video adapter for my LG TV looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/LG-OEM-Original-Part-EAD61273107/dp/B00C5HXILE . There's a second one for the audio signal.)

I hope this helps.

The video connection on the side of the TV is for AV2 composite video input, you need to use the remote control SOURCE button to select the input source to AV2 to see your DVD, Yellow plug is for composite video, Red and White for the audio, please read your manual for more details.

Need help connceting dvd recorder to set top box to TV. Have connected as per info on google but to no avail. any solutions

looking at the online manual - see link below there are a number of ways to connect that device to a TV
  1. Component Video Out
  2. S-Video Out
  3. Composite Video Out
Now depending on which Input you are using on the TV, you will need to select the input on the TV, often refered to as AV1, AV2, AV3 etc
Comment back on
  • which output you are using from the DVD
  • Which input you are using on the TV
  • Make and Exact model of the TV

There is an online manual available from here http://www.lg.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=DR787T&matchedModelCode=1000002469&searchEngineModelCode=DR787T&initialTab=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile

The AV2 HDMI are missing from the input list of my Plasma LG 42 ". Please help

Well, first question would be is anything plugged in, and is currently outputting any content? Some televisions will only display input devices that are being fed some kind of content in list form. Like my Westinghouse...when my PS3 is on, my little HDMI3 will show up with a square indicating content....when it is off....HDMI3 is not listed. I'm sure you can however manually scroll through inputs on your remote, and you will find your AV2 HDMI.

When trying to switch from AV1 to AV2 with the

The Red, White & Yellow connectors are your composite inputs usually classed as AV3 or component. The AV1 input is a Scart connection, if you have a scart cable, connect this as your AV source & the TV will switch from AV to component.

I can not select input source, even though AV1 is connected. Pressing INPUT button has no effect. All I can see is ''Not connected to the camcorder'', which is true - but I want to record from AV1.

Press INPUT repeatedly to select the external input
to record from.
AV1: Audio/Video Input mounted on back panel.
AV2: Audio/Video Input mounted on front panel.
DV: DV Input mounted on front panel.
DV IN jack.
This recorder is only compatible with DV-format
(DVC-SD, DV25) camcorders. Digital satellite tuners
and Digital video recorders are not compatible.
Make sure your cables are connected correctly, if an audio cable is plugged into the video the unit wont see it.

Toshiba TN55X Convergence problem.

You brought up an issue that we hadn't considered. Shortly after hooking up our TV to the receiver with a composite video, our convergence which wacko. My hubby replaced the 2 ICs, but now our power button just flashes red, with no picture. Not sure if new ICs are faulty or if it's another issue. He will replace old ICs to see if problem still exists with turning on the tube. And he'll try disconnecting the video signal to see if problem exists.

Ouch.. may have to consider another tv thanks to new technology ??????

Good luck solving your problem.

Composite and s-video inputs stopped working

You may have shifted the input board a little while replaceing the IC's. Double check every plug and connector, not just by visuale inspection, but by going and removing and replacing every connector. I have had problems like this in the pasy and have learned the hard way, everything is not as it looks. Good Luck
