First check if your adapter is good. Most adapter has an LED indicator, then check your AC outlet. Be sure to firmly insert mthe plug of the adapter onto your laptop's power socket, most laptop do have an LED indicator. IF you haven't seen any lights, that means the adapter or the plug or the socket is bad.
Good luck

Stuck mother board hp pavilion 764c

Check to see if the ports themselves are screwed to the back panel of the case. I don't know about your specific model but usually if you get all the screws it should lift out no problem. Also, you should not need to remove any motherboard components to get at these screws, they should all be visible.

How do i reattach an hp 764c pavillion heatsink using the two clamps. it became loose and trying to figure out how to reattach using the two clamps

The HP Pavilion 764c uses a Socket 478 processor socket.

One style is that there are two flat tabs, that protrude from the base of this processor socket.

View this type of Socket 478 more closely, without an Intel processor mounted in it,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_478

You can click on the photo to the upper right to enlarge it.
I would like you to do so at this time.

Looking at the bottom of the photo, you will see a grayish tab that sticks out from the middle, of the white processor socket.

There is a tab on the opposite side also.

The clamping device goes across, and around, the middle of the Heatsink.
It should slide back, and forth a little bit.

At each end of this flat clamping device, is a rectangular slot.
The rectangular slots go over the tabs.

Styles vary as to how each clamping device is set up.

It could be that there is a lever on one side of the clamping device, and is tilted down to create slack in the clamping device, allowing the rectangular slots to go over the tabs.

There is usually a place for your thumb on the lever. The lever is pressed down, and to the outside.

Then the lever is brought back up to create tension on the clamping device. (The clamping device will hold onto the tabs, and push down on the heatsink)

It could be the opposite direction for the lever. The thumb place on the lever is brought up, to release the clamp.

Here's another style shown in a video,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSFOfAGjql0

If this information does not help you, come back in a Comment, and give me a description of your clamps.

Hp pavilion 764c wire diagrams

Take a picture of the inside of your computer and put it up on the website with the wire connectors that need to be connected. The connecting wires should be in four groups. 1. The power supply connectors. These connectors will supply power to to all the power using components not supplied power by the motherboard itself. 2 The connections to the other components in your system like the dvd/cd player and the harddrive and floppy drive.3. The motherboard connections for the case. The power switch connector andreset switchconnector. The power led and theharddrive activity light. The USB connector and the audio connector. The fan connections like the cpu fan and other fan only connectors found on the motherboard. The external fans ( Fans that need to be connected to the power supply). Most of these connections are labeled on the motherboard. The case connectors also should be labeled for the correct connection. The best way to find the answers to this hook-up, may be to call HP pavilion with your computer make and model number, motherboard model number including revisions number. Computer made by big manufacturers tend to have may revisions and the only way to make sure your are getting a correct hook-up to the motherboard is call them for assistance.Especially if the motherboard and case labels are not present or so small that they cannot be read.Hope this helps you with your problem.
