Question about Bertazzoni F30PROXT Professional Series 30" Single Electric Wall Oven

1 Answer

I got F30PROXT oven installed but it wouldn't start to heat, the professional service came 3 times with different parts to change with no luck, finally I got brand-new oven and.... it does not start heating either! It seems to me that the unit is in "showroom" mode but on a display in shows "no" , does this oven has some kind of "idiot-protection" switch?????????

Dacor wall oven

Your tech is making it easy on himself, either he makes bank on the 1300 dollar repair or you back-out and let him off the hook.... Heat/ Temp sensors are nearly universal, so just about any RTD sensor will work in the oven, they are easily replaceable as well. Second, the logic control module is $269.40 at RepairClinic, I would start there- while installing the logic board, pull out the relay board and give it a close look in the daylight to see if any of the solder joints on the back of the board are cracking, burned, or otherwise failing- it is probably fine. Install the logic board and observe operation, the rest of those parts are likely not necessary- your tech sounds like a "Parts Changer Monkey," the old PCM.

My frigidaire oven #cpes3085kf dosen't heat up. I start it and then I can see the temperature rising but it's rising so slowly that it would take an hour to get to 350 degree. What is...

Thank you for your inquiry, Stphanie Perreault!

From my understanding your Frigidaire oven will not heat up properly. It sounds like a possible issue with your thermostat or sensor. I would recommend allowing a professional technician to perform a proper diagnosis and locate the part needed for repair. This will help to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Good luck. -Matt

Is there a pilot for the oven that can go out and needs to be manually relit? I have alrady replaced the igniter

The Whirlpool SF357 (SF357PEKQ0 specifically) does not have a pilot light; only the electric igniters that light the gas on demand for both the range and the cooktop.

On my gas ovens, checking the ignition is easiest with the warming drawer removed and the cover plate removed from the oven. Do you see a glow at the igniter? If yes, then the igniter is probably working. If not, check that the wiring harness between the igniter and the control board is connected and giving the appropriate power.

The next thing to check is that the oven gas valve is open. (Mine have a separate valve here.) Then check that nothing is blocking the gas line and that the regulator is opening and closing properly. We had an old oven that would start the gas flow and come up to temperature normally during the pre-heat time. However, when the oven cooled, the regulator wouldn't reopen thus the oven wouldn't stay at temperature. The regulator could be forced to open with a tap to the mechanism when the oven needed to come back to temperature.

Whirlpool has manuals and parts lists for the SF357 ranges on their site. https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchResultView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211 . The installation guide is here: https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Installation%20Instructions%20-%208273169.pdf . The owner's manual is here: https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%208522776.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(In the case of our old oven, we replaced the entire range. The difference in price between a new range and the needed parts (and labor) to fix the old one were nearly the same.)

My Oven does not turn on but the broiler does. The stove top works as well and it will clean. Its only the oven that does not work, but again it will broil.

It appears your element has failed in this instance.

This advice is on how to replace a bad element on kitchen ranges that utilize ELECTRIC heating elements for baking and broiling.
1. UNPLUG the range and remove the rear panel. Dangerous voltages are still present with the range turned off. The rear panel is in close proximity to the input power terminal block & shock hazard and/or equipment hazard can exist. Remove the series of screws around the perimeter of the panel.
2. Locate and disconnect the terminal lead wires from the element. Color coding may differ between manufacturers, so make sure you mark or label the wires as you remove them. If replacing both elements, do so one at a time to avoid confusion.
3. Open the oven door and remove (if possible). Refer to your owner's manual to see if there are instructions on how to remove the oven door. Some have spring-loaded locking hinges, while others just lift out. If you cannot remove the oven door, use care not to lean on the door or put too much weight on it. This can cause damage to the door hinges or cause the hinge springs to come loose.
4. Remove the oven racks, and remove the oven pan (if required - some elements are fully exposed, some have pan covers). There are usually two screws either in the back or front of the oven holding the pan in place.
5. The element will be mounted directly to the back of the oven wall, and/or to the bottom/top of the oven wall. Remove the mounting screws and remove old element from oven.
6. Install new element by carefully feeding the terminal leads through the oven wall first. Reinsert all mounting screws.
7. From the back of the range, reconnect the terminal wires.
8. Plug range in, turn oven/boiler on, and perform a visual test of the heating element to ensure it is working properly. Turn oven/broiler off and allow sufficient time to cool. If the oven has only been on for a minute or so, the cool down period will be brief. NOTE: Stand clear of any exposed wiring with rear panel removed.
9. UNPLUG range once again and re-install rear panel ensuring the terminal wires are NOT touching the panel.
10. Reinstall the oven pan and racks. Reinstall door if necessary.
NOTES: Prices vary between models and manufacturers, but most elements are in the $20-$40 range. There is a difference between the BROIL and BAKE elements in that they are usually different wattage ratings and are shaped differently. They should not be considered interchangeable.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

This is a problem with the ignitor. We have had this replaced 3 times in 10 years and the service technician says each time that he'll be back within the next 3 to change it. They actually haven't charged us for the parts the last 2 times because Westinghouse obviously know that it is a piece of $&@# .

The Oven won't heat up

Bad luck, you've almost certainly blown the element. On the bright side even with modern 'throw-away' ovens it is often possible to change the element or have in changed (you will need the serial number and google and to take the oven out and dismantle it - not for the novice really.

Not heating up anything

Not knowing how much run time you have on the microwave , makes it hard to diagnose the problem but If everything appears to be working properly (as you describe) then you may have a bad/damaged or disconnected magnetron tube inside it. That kind of service should be done by professionals. Exposure to Microwave energy is not something you should mess around with unless you know what you are doing.. Good Luck
