Question about Haier Mechanical Air Conditioner HWF05XC7

Loud as Hell

Just got this new ac unit. IT does this weird buzzing noise and is so loud that it repeatedly wakes me up during the night. It only does this when the ac is on, not the fan. I can't sleep with ear plugs in, so that's not an option. Can I fix this? Is this normal? I've never heard an air conditioner so loud.

As u said the noise comes when the unit at cool mode, it is clear that the unit makes vibration when compressor is on

I belive that the compressor is fitted with a Rotary compressor which makes more vibration then recip with a jerk.

The noise which is a hissing noise is coming from compressor and from the Tube -discharge line .

pl chk the tube are not touching anywhere, if touching pl clear it by pressing with hand slowly .
Add a weight (rubber) on the discharge to arrest vibrations

this will solve the problem of noise as the vibration.

Is it installed in a window? Check to make sure it is installed correctly. usually there is a felt or foam strip that is used to dampen vibration when you place it in the window. It also acts as seal to keep outside air and bugs out. If you place your hand at various locations on the unit does the sound go away? If it does then you know it is a vibration problem. Just add new foam or re-adjust the foam or gasketing it already has. If that doesn't work then try to locate the source of the noise. Use a mechanics stethoscope or even a cardboard tube from paper towels will work. Once you have located the source then you can tell the store what the problem is when you take it back and get a new one. Cheap air conditioners are noisy. Some more than others, it's why they are cheap. But your problem does sound like it could be a product issue.

Makes a really loud buzzing noise during operation

Unit uses a Magnetron and likely a power board called an inverter to run it. Someone would have to open the unit in a way where they might pinpoint where the sound is coming from and then take action--does not of course sound normal or good to me.

How do I stop the loud knocking noises coming from my refridgerator?

Pull the fridge away from the wall and inspect the compressor. Your description sounds like the compressor is hitting something. It is rubber mounted and usually can be pushed away from whatever it is hitting. You do not want to jamb something to stop the noise, as the compressor needs to move freely. Many compressors shake during start up and shutdown, and this is considered normal. Abnormal if the compressor hits something during this movement.

The air conditioner makes a loud sound when the ac trys to kick in. When i put it under fan it works fine and makes no noise.

Sounds like your compressor is seized/stuck and the unit needs a new compressor. If this is the case it should make a loud buzzing noise for a while and then click when it stops trying.

How do I adjust the volume on the alarm feature of the LG Quantum phone

The alarm plays at the same volume the ringer is set at, put it on loud before bed if it doesn't wake you up. Weirdly you can even set the phone to silent after making it loud, that way wont wake you if you get a text/email during the night.

Weird Noise

The weird noise will be something mechanical.

It will be either -
The Compressor (black "motor" at the rear)
The Control solenoid - Small electrical block with several pipes going through it
The frost-free fan - back of Freezer unit.

If it is the fan, it can be an easy fix if it is knocking something - just remove cover panel.

If it is the solenoid, it may require a rectifer component to prevent buzzing.

If it is the compressor, turn off unit, give it a reasonable knock to wobble it, waitm then re-connect. Sometimes the internal assembly sits in the wrong position.
If it is the compressor that is buzzing, it needs a new run capacitor fitting. If you are competent at soldering, it is possible to identify and replace this part yourself.

Loud buzzing at the first volume setting

Check all your wires and make sure that none of the wires that are powering any equipment (including extension cords, power bars, and power cables on the unit itself) are running parallel to any of the audio cables going to your speakers or from your inputs to your unit. This could be what's called AC hum, which is caused when the electrical current causes interference that gets picked up by the audio cables and amplified by your system. Just make sure you move the power cords as far away as possible from the audio cables.
