You can hook up the VCR directly to the TV; you don't need to hook up the VCR to the adapter. If you already had the VCR hooked up to the TV, you don't need to change those connections.

It is done automatically when connected to your tv otherwise I'm not sure what your talking about.... not enough info.

Unless this a new TV with ATSC (digital) tuning built in, you will need a digital adapter for off-the-air reception. Older TV sets have analog tuners, and analog broadcasting ended in June 2009. Wal-Mart and Radio Shack carry the adapters, as do other retailers. Your antenna connects to the adapter, and the adapter sends the converted signal to the TV on channel 3 or 4.

With digital broadcasting, a strong signal is necessary. Unlike the analog days, when a weak signal just meant a fuzzy picture, a weak digital signal will cause pixellation (blockiness) or freezing of the picture, or may not even be detected by the tuner. Depending on how far you are from the station's transmitter, you may find that rabbit-ears may not work too well. You may need an amplified antenna or even one outside to get best performance.

plug in the power to each unit with the provided power adapters, turn the sound bar and subwoofer on, activate the wireless subwoofer link by pressing a button on the soundbar (or remote) and subwoofer, and connect an audio source to either the provided analog or digital audio inputs on the soundbar
Note: When using the Digital Optical input, set source device audio out to PCM

(you can hook to ur tv if it has a R/L audio output, or u can also connect it if your tv has a toslink style digital output. (most LCD and Plasma TV's have them.))

The TV has two audio out options: a digital audio out (coaxial) and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Both of these are just above the antenna in connector. The headphone jack is the top one.

For a sound system that uses RCA stereo plugs, get a 3.5 mm (M) to 2 red/white RCA F adapter at the headphone jack and use an RCA audio cable from the adapter to the sound system. Alternatively, you can use a 3.5 mm audio patch cable from the headphone jack and the 3.5 mm (F) to 2 RCA (M) adapter at the sound system. The TV speakers will probably be turned off automatically with this connection.

If your sound system has digital audio, get the digital audio cable. You will need to enter the menus to make this audio output active. See the Audio menu > SPDIF Type (PCM, Dolby or Auto).

I am having the exact same problem! I am a college student and do not have the money to pay for cable. We have comcast internet in the house and somehow, through some miracle, the cable is on.
Has been for a year. But now i have lost half of the channels. How did you solve it? is there anyway to not go through comcast?

All of us that own this pint-size tv will experience the same problem come Feb. 2009. The only solution is to purchase a digital tuner adapter and "adapt".
