>>The Following is the Instruction File for Setting the Air Mixture Screws. Any Input is Appreciated. The Procedure is the Same for 1 or 2 Mixture Screws, Just Use the Instruction File and Skip Over the Section with the Missing Mixture Screw ( Usually the H Mixture Screw).
>>Now Setting the Air Mixture Screws:
>>****Turn the Idle Air (L) and Main Air (H) Mixture Screws In Until SNUG **Do Not Jam** Then Reverse Both Screws 1 1/2 Turns. Set the Throttle Full Open, Start the Engine.
>>Turn the Main Air (H) Mixture Screw Clockwise Until Proper Revs are Obtained. **Carefully Use your Finger and Move the Governor Arm to Rev the Engine (on Chainsaws and Trimmers Use the Trigger to Rev the Engine) Until you Reach Max RPMs (on Chainsaws and Trimmers, the RPMs are Not Set to MAX. Set to Max and then Reverse the Setting Screw 1/2 or 1 Turn. If the H Mixture Screw is Set too High; the Engine will be Starved for the Oil in the Gas and Damage the Piston and Jug/Cylinder) and the Engine is Running Proper at Full Throttle Up a Grade and for Chainsaws and Trimmers they Do Not Bog Down Under a Load. Occasionally you May have to Turn this Counter Clockwise to Achieve the Proper Revs.**
>>Now Allow the Engine to Idle. Set the Engine Idle Screw (Not Idle Air) so the Engine will Stay Running if Required.
>>Now Set the Idle Air (L) Mixture Screw so there is No Hesitation when Rapidly Throttling from Idle to Full Throttle. Reset the Engine Idle if Required.****
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If I Missed Something or you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

HOW TO CLEAN MOTORCYCLE CARBURETOR idle jet by Carl Quakenbush

I need to know how to set hight and low on the carborator

Make sure choke is fully open, then run engine at full speed adjust high jet with a screwdriver - what you do is turn jet one way until revs drop of and then the other way until revs drop off - what you want is the middle point between this happening. Do the same for low jet except run engine at idel speed.

FUEL MIXTURE SCREWS BEEN ADJUSTED IMPROPERLY. WHAT IS PROPER HIGH -LOW CARB SETTINGS FOR 40CC POULAN CHAIN SAW

Make sure the air cleaner is not plugged. Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back each out 1-1/2 turns CCW. This is a basic setting and should allow the engine to start and run. When the engine is warmed up, pull the throttle full on and adjust H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-stroking. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes running free, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and allow to idle. Turn the L jet needle CW until the engine idles fairly well, but the engine should 'follow the throttle'. It will tend to 'gasp' when pulling the throttle if you have gone too far. Idle speed screw should be set so that the chain doesn't try to turn, but the engine continues to idle. Hope this helps!

High rpm problem after bad gas will not rev.i messed with the jet setting and made it worse

Assuming that the bad fuel has been cleaned away, check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly) then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting which should allow the engine to start and warm up. After warm, pull the throttle full on and turn the H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up. Final adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes at speed unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L jet needle CW until the engine idles fairly well, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Hope this helps!

I have a 452 echo. lost the manual in a move. the boys 8-9 decided to tune up the saw and now I can't get it running...can you help me with the begining setings..Thanks John

Likely, they have adjusted the H and L jet needles and maybe the idle speed screw. Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out each CCW 1-1/2 turns. This is a basic setting and should let the engine start and run. Start the engine and let warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Adjust H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but 4-stroking. Proper adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L jet needle CW for better idle, but allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but allows the engine to continue to run. Hope this helps!

How do I adjust the carburetor on a Poulan 38cc chainsaw? Someone has messed with the low and high adjustment

Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting and the engine should start and run. Be sure to check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Start the engine and allow to warm up--pull the throttle full on and adjust H jet needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-stroking. Proper adjustment is reached when the engine 4-strokes at speed, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L jet needle CW until the engine idles fairly well, but will allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Set the idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine will continue to run. Hope this helps!

Carburetor settings for mac 10-10

Check the fuel filter, air filter and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting which should allow the engine to start and run. Do so, and allow the engine to warm up. Pull the throttle full on and adjust H jet CW until the engine speeds up somewhat, but still 4-stroking. Correct adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and allow to idle--adjust L jet CW so that the engine runs fairly well, yet allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Set idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

Husqvana 65 chain saw will rev fully when idle but dies when introduced to timber

Sounds like the saw is running lean. Check the fuel filter, air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines and that the fasteners on the carburetor are tight. If all ok, turn the 'L' and 'H' jet needles on the carburetor CW to stops (lightly), then back out each 1-1/2 turns CCW. This is a basic setting and the engine should start and run. Allow the engine to warm up, pull the throttle full on, and adjust H CW until the engine starts to speed up, but continues to 4-stroke. Proper adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. This produces the most power and least heat. Allow to idle and adjust L CW until the engine runs fairly well, yet will allow it to 'follow the throttle'. Set the idle speed screw til the chain stops moving, but keeps the engine running. Hope this helps!

Set the carb on 3516

Both the High and low speed jets need to be 1 1/2 turns open. Then fine tune from there.
