Trying to descale Miele coffee system-- keep getting alternating faults --10 or 17.

These codes relate to a water supply problem. If this is a plumbed system then check the water is turned on and hoses are not kinked. There is also a valve at the bottom of the water container outlet that may be clogged. Other than this its an internal fault with flow meter or coffee/hot water pump. Regards

Pump keeps tripping gfi outlet

That means the GFCi is doing what it supposed to do...shutting off the circuit in the event of a fault. Repair or replace the pump. You can plug something else into the GFCI to test the outlet itself

Miele W 1712 is giving a waterproof fault. I tried to switch the machine of and on but the alarm is still going - I am also not able to open the door. Regards Peter

I just received this error message on my Miele W 1712 (Waterproof Fault). Prior to this I had an error message regarding the Drain outlet, so I opened the drain outlet and cleaned it. I think I might have opened it too quickly and therefore creating the (Waterproof Fault). The problem is that when you open the drain outlet too quickly the water runs into the bottom of the washing machine where some sensor lies and you get the (Waterproof Fault) error message on the display and not even turning off the machine will do anything to get rid of this annoying message.
1. Turn off the machine
2. Unplug it
3. Open the drain outlet and take out the plug.
4. Dry all the visible water with a cotton cloth.
5. Tilt the machine FORWARD and hold it until you see water gushing from underneath the machine.
6. Repeat this until you see no more water.
7. Plug the machine back inn.
8 VOILA no error message! I hope in your case :)

Refrigerator has electrical short causing GCI outlet breaker to pop. Is this an easy or cost prohibitive fix?

It is possible you have a short. However, the more likely cause is the simple fact the refrigerator is plugged into the GFI outlet. Try this first, take a heavy duty three prong extension cord, NOT a lamp extension cord, plug it into a non GFI outlet, and plug the fridge into the cord. Does it trip your house circuit breaker? If so, then you do have a short. You will need to call a local refrigerator repair company to find the source of the short, and only then will you know if its an easy or cost prohibitive fix. If it does not, and it likely wont, the problem is that a GFI outlet detects a fault to ground. Due to the humidity and moisture inside a refrigerator, and normal water drainage sometimes into the metal base of the refrigerator, it is not uncommon for water to contact metal points inside and outside a refrigerator. Since all / most metal points on a refrigerator are grounded to each other, if water contacts any of them, they can and will trip a GFI outlet breaker, because it is detecting a fault to ground.

Dehumidifier trips ground fault outlet and no water in bucket

Hi,
The compressor is trying to start and pulling high amps which trips the GFI...
You are better off replacing rather then repairing that unit.

Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier2_bing.gif.

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

Water not coming out of machine

If water is in machine and not pumping out there could be a blockage in the outlet pipe or pump. If you can not hear the humm of the pump then there may be a pump fault. Possibly just a blokage in the outlet pipe though.

Asko W640 water outlet fault

If you get the water fault after checking the lower drain, you may need to remove the drain hose in the back. Usually there is a dime in the hose or the hard part right before the hose.

Waterproof fault

I just received this error message on my Miele WPS 4146 (Waterproof Fault) Prior to this I had an error message regarding the Drain outlet, so I opened the drain outlet and cleaned it.

So here is the fix that worked for me.

1. Turn off the machine
2. Unplug it
3. Open the drain outlet and take out the plug.
4. Dry all the visible water with a cotton cloth.
5. Tilt the machine FORWARD and hold it until you see water gushing from underneath the machine.

W640 - Water Outlet Fault

I solved this problem this morning, after several months with intermittent "water outlet fault" error messages.

Our pin trap was cleared many times over the months. The propellor turned freely. However, the problem persisted.
So I unplugged the machine, removed the back panel (8 or so hex screws) and located the point where the drainage hose meets the water draining pump. I then separated the hose from the pump and found 2 United States 10-cent pieces lodged together with gunk that effectively blocked the drainage hose. 10-cent pieces ("dimes") are the perfect diameter to get stuck there and not appear in the pin trap where you could easily see and remove them.

Three loads later, the machine is working according to spec. Hope this helps.
