Take apart a kenmore front load dryer

By PingJockey on Sep 25, 2007

" "
I have a Kenmore dryer, which the model number in my manual says it is a 417 and the number on my receipt is 26 83042. I have problems with clothes getting stuck between the drum and the front case and torn or shredded. Recently a bell from my daughters hat was jammed in there and broke off the hat. It is still between the drum and case and makes a lot of noise. First, how do I get the bell out and is there a way to prevent clothes from getting caught in between?

-   I have the same problem but the dryer will also scorch where it catches the clothes in the drum gap. I am checking the gap and hopefully this is the problem, -   Breezy52

-   Kenmore front load dryer model #417.84082500-making cliking noise when turned on. (I think it may be ripping my clothes) we also have a puppy that may be the culprit too. We can not figure out how to take apart the dryer. We dont want to bust clips. Can anyone tell is how to take it apart?-   raytonc

the serial number found on the door frame sticker will tell me who manufactured it for sears. I could then discribe to you how to complete the repair.
sounds like the drum glides are worn. easy repair. once I know what drier it is i could even send you the part numbers. one way to quickly check is lift the drum up from inside the drier and see how much space is between the drum and the support at the front. it should be no more than 3/16 of an inch to a quarter inch.
