7 Answers

I have mp3 files which i paid for and bought online so I could play them on mp3 player. When I load these files into a foder on the h2 zoom handy recorder, and then go to load each one on to play, it says 'invalid file' and I can go no further!! I paid money for these files, surely I should be able to play them on my h2 recroder connected to my stereo, help please. I can send you the folder with files in if you email me at tenorhorn@hotmail.com

Not happy with help I got as it didn't provide a result which worked. Am getting an 'invalid file' message when trying to open up mp3 files which I have paid for online to play on my zoom h2 recorder/mp3 player. How can I get them loaded successfully onto the h2 recorder so I can then play them though connecting it to my stereo? please, a solution which will actually work would be much appreciated ASAP.

  • tenorhorn Apr 24, 2009

    from the blog;

Unfortunately, AnalogWhole can not determine whether music it plays using Windows Media Player is protected by DRM or is not and will make an MP3 copy of the music file regardless of the DRM. It is important for the user to be aware of this. Depending upon where you live, it may be illegal to make copies of copy-protected music. Please check with your local and national copyright laws before using AnalogWhole.

obvioulsy it doesn't get rid of the drm????????????????????

First try putting files onto an sd card and playing on computer, if they do not play, then your download did not finalize. Contact the provider and download again.

Try placing the files inside the SD card into a folder called folder01.Follow instructions at page 47 to create music folder, they will be called folder01, folder02 etc.

Try updating the system to System Version 1.50

If all that does not work , then you may need to use a software to convert files, as this recorder use his own recording format. See VORTEX ZOOM ENCODER.

I'm sorry if you did not receive any satisfactory help thus for. I have a question that will help me better assist you. Where did you purchase the music files?

Some music downloads are actually aac files or other various formats. If you have one of the files on your computer right click on it and click properties. Please let me know what it says next to type of file. As well as what is checked next to attributes. Then click on the security tab at the top if there is one and see if your user name is listed there.

Check the encoding on the files the Zoom seems to only like mp3's at this format
44.1, Variable Bit Rate - 192Kbps, and stereo
Anything other than these settings will give you the error

Hi Tenorhorn,

The message that you receives - Invalid file.
This means that the file that you have downloaded is either not compatible with your mp3 or "CORRUPTED".
Let me tell you 2 reasons :-

1. Either the file that you have download is corrupted. That might happen. There is no specific reason.Million of reasons can be there. I would advise you to download these files once again or get in touch with the main source from where you purchased this .
2. The files that you downloaded is not compatible. Usually whenever you download a file, there is a specific extension like .avi, .mpeg, .mp3, .mp4 etc. Check the extension and make sure you have the compatible file extension download.
I would not be able to comment on what other experts informed you, However, that's the only solution. The error itself explains the meaning on there mp3 players.
Any further information, let me know.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Do rate the solution as "Fixya" if 100% satisfied.

hmm, I thought i had the resolution to this issue, but really the only thing i have to suggest is make sure the files function normally in the player before syncing. I apologize for the inconienence.

Use the Nero 8 program and rip direct to the SD card through your computer....do not use the H2 as a card holder....set the output to a Folder on the SD card and set Nero to mp3/mp3PRO..then disable the mp3PRO option and use simple mp3 format set to variable bit rate...here is a link to the forum:

Hello,

Most downloadable songs from the Internet has a Digital Rights Management protection (DRM) and that could be the cause of the problem. In order for you to void that protection, you may burn those .mp3 songs into a CD and then transfer those songs from the CD to your H2 Zoom Handy recorder.

I hope this could help. Please try it. Good luck.

I understand that the .mp3 songs are already in the memory stick. But putting them into a memory stick is different from burning the songs into a CD. By burning the songs, the DRM would be voided.

Again, this is just a suggestion because I experience this before. But if this suggestion will not work on your side, please keep in mind that I'm just suggesting.

Again, thank you so much and have a great day. But if you have any question, please feel free to reply.

My Zoom H2 recorder is not recognized by my new computer with Windows 7. What can I do to solve this?

No solution, just a workaround. I have used the H2 with firmware 1.90 successfully with Windows 7, but lately the H2 is not recognized anymore. Built-in obsolescence maybe?
Anyway, I just take out the card and put it in a card reader. It is faster also. Card readers are cheap.

The sandisk flash memory drive i bought had 1 threat on it, so i format it..I then loaded songs on it but could not play on my car mp3 player

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

Can i use 16gb ds card in my zoom h2

  • Yes you can. Your zoom h2 can be used with an SD card up to 32MB. The SD card in your DS is nothing more than a standard SD card that happens to be 16MB. You will be fine.

I bought an mp3 player 1 gb but all songs are not played

You need to ensure that the files that you have loaded onto the player are not in WMA format. This mp3 player may not be compatible with this type of file.

Mp3 player wont play music, says file not formated

The file not formatted message is not an error that a repair will fix.
The songs that you have loaded onto the player are in a format that the player does not support. Do yourself a favor, and only download files that rae in mp3 format - they will never give you problems, error messages, require long explanations, etc.

Those WMA's have a particular DRM-encryption system that the player does not recognize - they have play rights, but no real transfer rights. Convert the files to Mp3 format using Media Monkey and you will be fine.

Won't paly WMA files that I bought online!

I remember reading somewhere that if you upgrade your firmware of your H340 from US to international to get video you lose the ability to play DRM music. I from this I would that the international version can't play the copy protected files. I am not sure of the legalities in your location, but you may be able to work around the copy protection. Maybe a google search would give you some hints.
