I need to know what power supply is needed for my C2 HD 1037 external hard drive.

The hard drive requires a 240v plug in AC adapter and cannot run direct from a USB. It is the AC adapter that is missing and I can't seem to read anywhere stating the voltage and amperage required. I am sure I can get a new adapter from an electronics store. Hope this helps. Thanks. Jason

I would start by contacting them on their website.
I don't see anywhere where you can but just the power supply but it wouldn't hurt to ask them about it.

Need to know the DC voltage / amperage input for a Simple Drive 500 GB external HD. Model # 96300-41001-160

The power supply must provide 12Volts at 3 Ampere, as I remember.
There should be a label on the underside of the power supply that you can check.

What is the difference between a external hard

External hard drives contain a power supply to operate a standard hard drive in a case. It usually connects to a USB port. Usb drives get their power from the wire that connects it to the USB port A regular internal hard drive gets it's power from the computer's power supply wiring. The data cable is either a flat ribbon cable or a 6 pin cable that connects directly to the mother board.

How can I get a replacement power supply?

What you are after is an AC adapter this model I found on ebay has 120 volts to 240 volts to 12 volts make sure the DC voltage output matches the Voltage of your hard drive. The current output has to be the same amount or larger in value. So if your drive needs 2A a 2A or larger value means it can handle the current load put on it by the Hard drive.

this one below matches the exact model number of your hard drive

I have an external 500 GB HD. I try to plug it in to my laptop and the light on the front just flashes. The laptop doesn't recognize the HD, and there is no sound coming from the external HD

For that make sure usb cable works fine.
Try with different usb cable.
Also connect usb cable in different usb ports of computer.
Right click on my computer then click on proeperty then hardware->device manager.
Then click on sign of usb controllers then uniunstall all usb drivers 1 by 1.
then restart computer.
Then check.
If still not recognized then when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
then check.
in normal mode again.sometimes harddisk need to start in safe mode .
Let me know if you need more assistance.
