Help and support(PChealth) file of windows xp service pack 1 is not working. If i click it on the startup menu,there no an action at all,that is it doesnt open. Recently it was working fine but i dont know what went wrong.

WinSetupFromUSB - Install Windows XP from USB Flash Drive

This guide will show you, how to use WinSetupFromUSB to create a bootable USB Flash Drive including all Windows source files, plus the following installation of Windows XP. Compare to the different USB_Multiboot versions, WinSetupFromUSB comes with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and is in my opinion easier to use.

Here you can get the latest version of the program and you will also find many detailed informations about WinSetupFromUSB.

I've tested this guide with a 32-bit version of Windows XP and a 64-bit version of Windows Vista and it worked flawlessly.
Prerequisites:

All you need is:

a USB Flash Drive with at least 1GB of storage
the original Windows XP Setup CD
WinSetupFromUSB

If you use nLite to slim down your version of Windows XP, please keep the following in mind:
DO NOT remove "Manual Install and Upgrade"
under Operating System Options!

I also recommend to integrate Service Pack 3 into your Windows XP source files.
1. Preparations

Download and install WinSetupFromUSB. Default installation path is C:\WinSetupFromUSB.

Create a new folder with the name WINXPCD in the root directory of drive C:\ and copy all files from your Windows XP Setup CD into this folder. Depending on your version of Windows XP, the content of C:\WINXPCD should look approximately like this:

The following files will show you, which Service Pack is already integrated into your CD:

WIN51IC.SP1, Sevice Pack 1
WIN51IC.SP2, Sevice Pack 2

2. Start WinSetupFromUSB

Connect the USB Flash Drive to your PC and start WinSetupFromUSB. It should show up under USB Disk Selection :

3. Select your Source Path

Click on Browse under Windows 2000/XP/2003 Source and navigate to the folder with your Windows XP Source Files. It should be C:\WINXPCD:

4. Format USB Flash Drive

PeToUSB or HP Format Tool are used to format the USB Flash Drive. There is no need to download these programs seperately as they are already included in WinSetupFromUSB.

USB Flash Drives up to 2GB should be formatted with PeToUSB in FAT16, USB Flash Drives with 4GB or more with HP Format Tool in FAT32.

I will use PeToUSB to format my Kingston Data Traveler with 2GB.

In the main window of WinSetupFromUSB click PeToUSB under Format target using to start the program. The USB Flash Drive should show up under Destination Drive. Check USB Removable, Enable Disk Format and Quick Format. Uncheck Enable File Copy under File Copy Options :

Click Start and answer the following two questions "Continue?" with Yes.
All existing volumes and data will be lost!

If everything goes well, the message "Operation Completed Successfully!" should appear. Click OK and close PeToUSB.

The process with HP Format Tool is similar.
5. Copy Windows XP Source Files

To start the process of copying the Windows XP source files to the USB Flash Drive, click GO in the main window of WinSetupFromUSB. Depending on the write speed of your USB Flash drive it may take a while to copy all files.

At the end the following notice about the Windows installation process should be displayed:

Click OK and close WinSetupFromUSB with EXIT.
6. Windows Installation - Part 1

Connect the USB Flash Drive to your PC and turn on the computer. Press ESC at the boot screen and you will be able to select the USB Flash Drive as your boot device from the boot menu.
The ESC key is used by ASUS for the Eee PC series.
Other manufacturers may use other keys, e.g. F8 or F12.

After booting from USB Flash Drive, the following menu should be displayed:

Press Enter or wait 10 seconds to get to the next menu:

First part of Windows XP Home Edition setup
Second part of XP Home Edition setup+Start Windows for first time

First part of Windows XP Home Edition setup is already selected. Press Enter or wait 10 seconds to start the Text mode part of setup. During this part you can create, delete and format partitions and finally the setup files are copied to your hard disk. At the end the system will restart automatically.
7. Windows Installation - Part 2

After restart, boot the PC again from your USB Flash Drive. The same menu should be displayed:

During this part you will be asked for your product key, timezone, usernames and other necessary informations. At the end the system will restart automatically.
8. Windows Installation - Part 3

After restart, boot the PC again from your USB Flash Drive. The same menu should be displayed:

Press Enter or wait 10 seconds to get to the next menu:

Second part of XP Home Edition setup+Start Windows for first time is already selected. Press Enter or wait 10 seconds to Start Windows for the first time. The Windows installation process will be finished and finally the Windows Desktop will appear.
DO NOT disconnect the USB Flash Drive too early!

At next startup you can boot into Windows from your hard disk.

After successsful installation, the following boot menu will always be displayed during startup:

If you don't plan to use the repair option and want to boot directly into windows, you have to do the following:

1 . Restart your computer by using the Safe Mode startup option. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Restart your computer, and when the Boot menu appears, press F8 .
b. Under Windows Advanced Options Menu, select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER .
c. When the Boot menu appears again with the words "Safe Mode" displayed at the bottom of the menu, select the operating system that you want to start, and then
press ENTER.

2 . Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
3 . In the left pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

Method 1: Clean Boot with Only MoSearch loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); The Mosearch.exe (Microsoft Office Search Service) and Mosdmn.exe (Microsoft Office 10 Search Filter Daemon) Startup items may be conflicting with some other program (or programs) running in the background. Therefore, clean boot your computer with only MoSearch selected on the Startup menu to determine whether this program is the source of the conflict. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type msconfig.exe, and then click OK.
  3. On the General tab, click Selective startup.
  4. On the Startup tab, click to clear all check boxes except for MoSearch.

    NOTE: In Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), leave the *StateMgr check box selected as well.
  5. Click OK, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
  6. If the error message can be reproduced, repeat the preceding steps. In step 3, also click to clear the Process System.ini file and Process Win.ini file check boxes.
If the error message cannot be reproduced, this indicates that MoSearch is conflicting with some other program or programs running in the background. Follow these steps to locate the conflicting program:

The ip address is Static Ipaddress . Tried to do ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. Check the ipaddress it should be a different ip address. If your are getting the same 169.254.1.1 ip address . Need to remove and reinstall Winsoc. Backup the registry before performing winsock troubleshooting.

Remove the Winsock Settings
To remove the Winsock settings in Microsoft Windows XP, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for the Windows XP service pack that is installed.
Determine Your Service Pack Level
To determine the service pack level that Windows XP is running, use an account that has Administrator rights and follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Run window, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. In the System Properties window, on the General tab, note the service pack level that appears under System. For example, information that resembles the following may appear:

Use the System Configuration utility (Msconfig.exe) to extract the original Helpctr.exe file to the Windows\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries folder on your hard disk. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start your computer in Safe mode. To do this, restart your computer, press and hold down the CTRL key after your computer completes the Power On Self Test (POST), and then click Safe Mode on the Startup menu.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  4. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Extract File.
  5. In the Specify the system file you would like to restore box, type helpctr.exe, and then click Start.
  6. In the Restore from box, click Browse, and then browse to the C:\Windows\Options\Install folder, where C: is the drive on which Windows is installed, and then click OK.

    NOTE: Use C:\Windows\Options\Install if you installed a Windows Me retail product, or C:\Windows\Options\Cabs if your computer manufacturer installed Windows Me.

    Windows Me installs the cabinet files, by default, in the Windows\Options\Install folder. If these files are on your computer, you do not need your Windows Me CD-ROM because you can extract the Helpctr.exe from the appropriate folder on your hard disk.
  7. In the Save file in box, click Browse, and then browse to your C:\ drive (where C is the drive on which Windows is installed), and then click OK.
  8. Click OK to extract the file.

Help and Support cannot be found


Hi, you need to do the following:-

Click Start --> Run
Enter "services.msc" --> Click OK
Find Help and Support
Right Click and Start if already enabled

If not right click and select Properties
Change to automatic, then right click --> Start

Now close the services windows and go to "Help and Support"
or press F1

  18. Exit the Registry Editor.

5. To delete the zero-byte files from the Startup folder
Follow the instructions for your version of Windows:

Note: There may be legitimate files on your system that start with "tftp." Delete only the zero-byte files from the Startup folder.

To delete zero-byte files in Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Find (or b) > Files or Folders.
  2. Make sure that "Look in" is set to (C:) and that "Include subfolders" is checked.
  3. In the "Named" or "Search for..." box, type, or copy and paste, the following file name:

    tftp*.*

  4. Click Find Now or Search Now.
  5. Delete the files that are zero bytes in size and contained within any folder whose name ends with "Startup."

To delete zero-byte files in Windows XP
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Search.
  2. Click All files and folders.
  3. In the "All or part of the file name" box, type, or copy and paste, the following file name:

    tftp*.*

  4. Make sure that "Look in" is set to "Local Hard Drives" or to (C:).
  5. Click More advanced options.
  6. Check Search system folders.
  7. Check Search subfolders.
  8. Click Search.
  9. Delete the files that are zero-bytes in size and contained within any folder whose name ends with "Startup."

6. To reenable the SharedAccess service (Windows 2000/XP only)
The SharedAccess service is responsible for maintaining Internet Connection Sharing and the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Firewall applications in Windows. (The presence and names of these applications vary depending on the operating system and service pack you are using.) To protect your computer and maintain network functionality, re-enable this service if you are using any of these programs.


Windows XP Service Pack 2
If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and are using the Windows Firewall, the operating system will alert you when the SharedAccess service is stopped, by displaying an alert balloon saying that your Firewall status is unknown. Perform the following steps to ensure that the Windows Firewall is re-enabled:
  1. Click Start > Control Panel.

  2. Double-click the Security Center.

  3. Ensure that the Firewall security essential is marked ON.

    Note: If the Firewall security essential is marked on, your Windows Firewall is on and you do not need to continue with these steps.

    If the Firewall security essential is not marked on, click the "Recommendations" button.

  4. Under "Recommendations," click Enable Now. A window appears telling you that the Windows Firewall was successfully turned on.

  5. Click Close, and then click OK.

  6. Close the Security Center.


Windows 2000 or Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier
Complete the following steps to re-enable the SharedAccess service:
  1. Click Start > Run.
  2. Type services.msc

    Then click OK.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • Windows 2000: Under the Name column, locate the "Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" service and double-click it.
    • Windows XP: Under the Named column, locate the "Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" service and double-click it.

  4. Under "Startup Type:", select "Automatic" from the drop-down menu.

  5. Under "Service Status:", click the Start button.

  6. Once the service has completed starting, click OK.

  7. Close the Services window.

Restore missing Help and Support Files 1. Click Start, Run and type %windir%\INF
2. Locate the file pchealth.inf, right-click and choose Install
pchealth1.jpg There will be two files namely PCHealth.INF and PCHealth.PNF. You'll need to right-click on the INF file (identified by a text pad and Gear icon in it) and choose Install.
3. In the next step, you'll be asked for the Windows XP CD (to extract dataspec.xml and many other files). Insert your Windows XP CD and point to the i386 folder in the CD.

note: The PCHealth.INF installation routine is not complete, as it does not register Help and Support completely, nor does it create the helpsvc service and other registry keys. At this point of time, nothing may happen when you start Help and Support, or it exhibits an error message mentioning the Help and Support service is missing.
Step II - End the Help and Support services Click Start, click Run and type Taskmgr and click OK. This opens Task Manager. Click the Process tab. Terminate the following processes if running:
  • helpsvc.exe
  • helphost.exe
  • helpctr.exe
Reinstall Help and Support
Click Start, click Run and type cmd.exe, and click OK.
In Command Prompt, type the following commands one by one and press {ENTER} after each line. Alternately, you can copy the commands below to Notepad, save the file with .bat extension (e.g. helpfix.bat) and run it.
net stop helpsvc
cd /d %windir%\pchealth\helpctr\binaries
start /w helpsvc /svchost netsvcs /regserver /install
start /w helpsvc /register
start /w helpctr /regserver

What is pc health


Hello do you want to get rid to the program for good, I my self have never used Pc health.
What I would do is open your control panel>Add Remove Programs> Now find the Program Pc Health> Remove, Follow the directions and take it out. Restart your computer now and when it starts up go into your My computer. Right click the Hdd and open programs. If You get a window that tells you hidden files, Don't panic,
Go a head and open that file up and then open programs there once into that look for the Pc Health in there and right click and delete, Then restart one more time and your ready to go.. Write back here if you still are having problems, Oh Sorry I amost forgot If you don't want to remove it you can also Disable it in your control panel too. Look for Startup programs you can disable from there, I need to know what your operating system is Xp Vista let me know, Thank You
