Question about Ovens

1 Answer

Hi, my Blanco freestanding electric oven-FD9045WX-(gas cooktop) went out with a flash & a bang. The fan element was in pieces and the thermostat totally fried. The clock/timer does not go nor do the sparks to ignite the gas cooktop. The mains power is ok (did not even trip the circuit breaker) but all oven electrics without power. I cannot locate a fuse in oven so am worried that fixing the obvious - element & thermostat- may not be the end of it. Where to now???

Thanks for the tip, I will check the pathway you have suggested and let you know how I went. I might be a while, I have put the oven back together and my girlfriend is using it as storage for trays etc. the gas cooker works fine and she is reluctant for me to take it apart again:) Timing is everything!!! I'll let you know how I go, thanks.

Check for power at the supply terminals, follow it up to the high temp cutout > timer > multifunction switch > thermostat > element

Careful, don't electrocute yourself!

SOURCE: Wall Oven No Power

yes the oven thermal fuse blew when the fan went off its also called a tco switch if you pull out the oven and take the top off there will be a tech sheet there that will give the location of the tco some are on top some are on back this can also happen if the oven is too tight in the cabinet not enough room around it to let the heat dissipate its a round metal disc with two wires on it

SOURCE: Electric Dbl Wall Oven-loud popping noise at end of self clean

Bill ,i dont suspect the control unit is the problem im going back to the loud pop you heard I would say the pop you heard was one of the elemants blowing and that the reason the the breaker tripped if you say the clock, timer and light functon are ok it more so points to an elemant in most cases when an elemant blows it breaks the circuit .but the other componants also work when you reset the breaker i think in this case bill i would call a electrician it needs testing, sorry i could not help this time bill, but do not hesatate to contact me if i can help you again.adrian

SOURCE: Diplomat Softline ADP0300 Gas-just not cooking ...anything!

Hi there..
I Just recently had the same problem, also with a diplomat gas oven..
The problem I found was down to a small resetable component under the main cover. ..
It took me ages to find the problem and I had taken the whole electical parts of the oven to bits before 'accidentaly' coming across this 'thermal switch' (located inside the main cover, at the top, behind the display module).. - to reset this there is a tiny red button between the connectors.. press this - and it should all be fine again... : One importnat note is that this may be tripping as a consequence of the fan not running or by my thinking not running on after the oven is switched off, leaving the casing to heat up and then trip this switch component.. - if this component is faulty it can be found in RS components or Farnell components.. look for Thermal swich manual reset part no: L100C 9082 470.

Test element check for continuity across the terminals and it is getting power when switch onon. If both ok, chances are the front selector switch has blown.

I turned the bottom oven on and it was like a small lighting bolt went off, it tripped the fuse box to the house and now only the top oven works?

You will probably find that the element for the lower oven has expired. They sometimes do go in a shower of sparks. I once had an element on a hob explode in my face and a small lump of red hot metal flew up and just missed me.
It is easy to get to the circulatin fan and element, you just have to remove the 4 self tapping screws in each corner of the fan/element cover for the cover to come off. If the element has burnt out as you say you should see some evidence of burn marks/holes on the element.
The bad news is that you will have to take the whole oven out of the housing to remove its top and back to gain access to the element retaining nuts and the wiring to unclip/reclip it.
Try espares for a replacement element and if it was a major bang when it went, you should consider replacing the thermostat as well as this is often damaged by the element going.
(The thermostat is the long thin metal rod in the top right hand corner of the oven and is connected to the control by a very thin fragile pice of wire - be careful)!

Heard a pop/bang and now no heat

Sounds like the oven element has blown.
To fit a new one, remove cover at rear of inner oven compartment, there you will see the round fan element.

Display works but no lights on either oven and no fan

If the display is flashing, it sounds like the timer needs resetting
U need to refer to your instuctions on how to do this..
If it does it again once u have reset it, then I suspect that the oven element has blown..
Pls leave feedback.
Thanks.

SMEG Oven won't heat up

This is late response but this fault is your fan element. You have two of them, if heating slower than usual, it is only one that has failed. When replacing one, it is recommended the other one be replaced. Tripping the circuit breaker is the symptom. These elements 2100 Watt each are anywhere between $70 to $110.

Fan oven not heating, bosch hbn 202t

the fan oven element is separate from the grill element. the problem is that the circular element round the fan is blown. remove the back panel of the oven and you will see the element. replacement is easy. on most bosch, the element is removable from inside the oven but for some you have to remove the oven and take off the back casing
