SOURCE: 1967 PONTIAC 400 cu.in. ENGINE-What is the right

Pretty skimpy info there toolbox. Which engine do you have?
In 1967 Pontiac made 326, 400, and 421 engines. They all have the same main bearing size, 3.00 inches, rod size, 2.250 inches and the same stroke, 3.750 inches.
In 75, they only made the 400 and 455. The 75 400 uses the same crank but the 455 uses the same rod size but a larger 3.250 main, and 4.210 stroke.
So any year 400 crank will fit any other year 400, 389, or 350.
Google Kauffman Racing, Wallace Racing or Pontiac Dude.

Cheers

Matt

The casting number was used on 350ci from 1969 to 1979. 2 or 4 bolt main. Was put in Vettes and if so should be 4 bolt main.

*5443094 is this engine number

The engine number is usually stamped directly to a raised machined flat surface on the right hand side of the engine block (standing at the front of the car and facing the engine) but you can be sure it will be in the worst place to try and read it. The engine number also has letters incorporated in it and this info can be decoded by the mechanic telling him info such as year, type, model etc. as the number you have provided has no letters in it i will go out on a limb and say........no.

WHAT YEAR CHEVY VEGA ENGINE IS CASTING NUMBER T0414CBS 17U170350

I have some info, but not much.
The letter T stands for Tonawonda plant. 0414 stands for April 14 and CBS would tell you its a Chevy and the model info.
17 means Chevrolet and the year 1977. The rest of that number should match the last 6 digits of the VIN number on the car the engine came out of.
You can check with the dealer for more info.

How do know what year your engine is the number on it is v1023hw?

The letter V stands for made in Flint.
1023 is October 23rd
The letters HW can mean its a 1965 model 327 or a 1969 model 350. The casting number should tell you which size it is.

1969 firebird

I guess my first question would be - what are your plans for the car ?
Totally stock, modified, or race ?
Totally stock would be the most valuable in terms of resale. Modified or race would limit the number and type of possible buyers.
It had a straight 6 cyl 250 - a 350 V8 - or 400 V8 when new. The VIN would tell you want the original engine was. And this was before GM swapped engines between brands. So the V8 engines were Pontiac built. The Pontiac 6 cyl was overhead cam.

I bought a doner truck for parts. In it was what I was lead to believe a 305. The block casting number is 3970010 and the code is k0611cgc. The intake is tb and the number is 14102182. Wasn't able to...

The VIN number should tell you all of that if you use the internet to decipher what letter or number to look for to determine engine size etc

Just wondering What my engine is out of. i bought it as a 350 Chev but not sure exactly if its a 350 or not. engine number KO314CMJ casting number 3970010

Hey spoofy, that is a good block casting...Chevy used that from 1969-1979. The Vette, Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, Monte Carlo and Trucks all had this engine. If it's a 4 bolt main, the chances it came out of a Vette are very good. The engine number you give does not cross reference.
I hope this helps.
