Question about Garmin GPSMAP 276C GPS Receiver
I have been using mapsource for a few years. I installed TOPO2008, and now when I try to transfer points, the PC does not recognize the GPS. I re-installed TOPO2008, used web updater and re-installed USB driver. The PC still will not "Find" the GPS unit. No other cables are connected to the PC during these attempts.

Verify that you have the correct basemap for the country that you are in. There are two maps inside a new Garmin. The basemap which shows all the major highways and mapsource which shows all the street. If you don't have the correct basemap try changing 'Navigation' Advoidance to avoid highways and Toll Roads.
