Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer
If you have since removed the magnet, I would not be concerned. It could be just a coincidence. On the back of the dryer may be an electric schematic. If not you may find one by Googling your unit, or check Repairclinic.com. The schematic will show that the juice to run your unit goes thru the door switch, the start switch, and lots of other places. Definately see if your unit has a built in fuse. With the unit unplugged, check out the circuit with a multimeter. Keep in mind that 220 circuits come in from both ends and meet in the middle, dangerous all around when live. If you are comfortable working with live circuits, you may find the bad part will have 220 volts going to it, but not through it. This test takes practice, not for a beginner. If you can't find an easy answer, call a pro.
