Me too. I thought that it was leaking ink or something. Ha! Ha! I thought maybe the heads needs to be cleaned. I have never owned a printer that went through a cartridge a week.

What color and black and white cartridges should I use for a HP Photosmart 1115 printer?

It looks like your Photosmart 1115 printer uses an HP45 black ink cartridge and an HP78 tri-color cartridge. Some HP printers will accept re-manufactured ink carts, while other HP printers will not...just so you know. I've always bought genuine HP ink cartridges on eBay to save $$$.

Little Known Facts About Extending The Life of Printer Ink Cartridges.

Did you know that a perfectly good ink cartridge can dry out enough in just two weeks to be no good ever again. Not that all of the ink drys out, just that the ink closest to the working exit drys, clogging the exit holes and preventing the liquid ink from exiting. Often the printer indicates that the cartridge is still close to full but that color will not print out. I recently had this happen with an expensive jumbo black cartridge. After researching this and speaking with two printer technicians, my worst fear was confirmed. My almost new $35.00 ink cartridge was no good. And there is no way to fix it.

Knowing that these cartridges dry out pretty quickly, do not purchase a jumbo cartridge unless you do a lot of printing on a regular basis. The regular cartridges are good for about 200 copies and the jumbo cartridges are good for about 650 copies. If you know you aren't going to use your printer for the next couple of weeks or longer, remove the cartridges and store them.

Follow these steps for the best results:
1. Moisten a cotton ball with a small amount of tap water and carefully clean the residual ink from the working surcface of the cartridge.
2. Use a piece of plastic wrap to cover the working surface of the cartridge.
3. Store the cartridges in a ziplock bag trying to get out as much air as possible. This will prevent the ink from drying and clogging the holes.

I know this seems like a bit of work, but with the cost of these cartridges, it is time well spent. Happy printing everyone!

Refilled ink cartrige still showing empty is their any way to reset printer

Regarding your HP Officjet Pro 8600 printer and refilled HP 950/951 ink cartridges and the "low ink" messages. Depending on your ink refiller (or if you did it yourself?), a replacement chip may or may not have been installed with the recently refilled cartridge(s). Refer to picture on our support site to first determine which type of cartridge configuration you have, then refer to the applicable section to address the current cartridge error(s) or printer issues.
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1999

NOTE: Costco USA's Ink Refill service now 'chips' all refilled ink cartridges which fully restores all functions to that of a regular HP (OEM) ink cartridge and customer experience. For USA ink refill store locations and details on ink refill pricing:

Costco USA Ink Refill Service (all 453+ stores): http://www.costcoinkjetrefill.com

Fry's Electronics Ink Refill Service (all 34 stores): http://www.frys.com/ads/page51

Micro Center Ink Refill Service: http://www.microcenter.com/site/content/refill-service.aspx

Refer to Section A if your refiller attached a new replacement chip (green in color) onto the cartridge. Refer to Section B if only the original HP chip is attached.

----

CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from China) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and/or permanent PRINTHEAD failures (due to incompatible ink formulations). We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested! HP original/genuine ink cartridges can be identified by the visible HP logo on the front label of the cartridge.

My MP160 goes through the motions of printing, but no ink actually comes out on the page. Both ink cartridges are new and I have checked and rechecked that they were put in correctly?

This sounds like you are trying to use either aftermarket or refilled cartridges. To clear the ink nozzles you will have to invest in new OEM cartridges, run the cleaning procedure at least 3x to clear the nozzles, align the printhead. This should take care of the problem.
I would remove the OEM cartridges, retape the ink outlet and breather hold at the top and store them for the next time you need to unclog the nozzles. Try LDProducts.com for ink cartridges.
As for the cartridges that you had the problem with I would take them back to the vendor for credit or an exchange.
Aftermarket and refill ink often do not meet manufacturer specifications.

Replaced ink in printer with generic ink cartridges and error message 1203 came up.

A person might notice that buying new, name brand, ink cartridge for printer rapidly becomes quite an expenditure. Nonetheless, there are quite a lot of different methods to find the equal quality standard for a alot lower price. Your primary options are: name brand (OEM) ink cartridge for printer, matching generic ink printer cartridges or remanufactured ink printer cartridges.
When you are purchasing a replacement photo printer cartridge, consumers do have choices. It’s frequently assumed that shoppers are required to buy the expensive, name brand, cartridge for laser printer from the manufacturer, or the service contract will become void. Their belief merely is not correct. By law, the use of compatible replacement inkjet printer cartridges does not render null and void the printer makers guarantee. In truth, you can choose to get less pricey compatible cartridge for laser printer, or remanufactured cartridges, often with a realized savings of between 40% and 75%. All chief ink laser printer cartridge brands have matching versions, including IBM, and Xerox.

Name Brand Inkjet Cartridge for Laser Printer
Nearly all major makers of laser printers also create the replacement inkjet printer cartridges that are best matched for their particular laser printers. This option is ordinarily the most expensive, and in a lot of situations it is the lone choice available if you happen to get a new laser printer whose producer implanted computer chips in the ink printer cartridge. The point of this chip may possibly be to regulate the color ink flow, limit the cartridges use, or to standardize the cartridge in alignment. Nevertheless, if you pick out a similar, or remanufactured, cartridge for laser printer, it might not be able to interconnect with the laser printer and may harm the laser copier or cause it to quit working.

Comparable Generic Inkjet Cartridge for Laser Printer
When thinking about purchasing an ink printer cartridge for your laser printer, the key aspect you must to bear in mind is the price. Buying a brand new ink laser printer cartridge will be based upon how much you are prepared to give. You can buy a new brand name cartridge for printer, or you might purchase a new compatible (generic) ink printer cartridge. Both types of ink printer cartridges might provide you with the same quantity, quality and performance you insist on from your printer. The major difference is in cost: a brand name ink printer cartridge might easily cost nearly twice the price of a compatible cartridge for printer.
Compatible (generic) inkjet laser printer cartridges are made to meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specs. These makers usually set very lofty standards of dependability and quality and also provide high quality results, regularly exceeding the quality specifications established by the OEM. These cartridge for printer are produced with new parts and are a lower priced option to costly name brand ink printer cartridges.
Buyers might also be surprised to see that the generic comparable cartridge will publish the same amount of, or more, pages than the original OEM cartridge. Largely, this is since certain original OEM ink laser printer cartridges are not filled all the way up. In this situation, a compatible ink cartridge for printer could give you twice the advantage: it reduces your price per cartridge and cost per page by printing additional pages

Refilled the ink and it is still saying it needs

Unfortunately, you may need to buy new Epson manufactured ink cartridges. Some of the ink cartridges and/or printers have a setting that says this cartridge is empty and refilling the cartridge does not clear the empty code.

Changed both ink cart. Ink light still flashing. Won't print.

If this is just an ink cartridge problem, I would suspect that you are not using OEM cartridges, but aftermarket or refilled cartridges. The quickest way to solve the problem is to replace the cartridges with OEM cartridges. Depending on where you got your current cartridges, I would take them back and upgrade to a better quality cartridge.
Let me know if this solves your problem. Please rate this solution. Thanks.

Check ink UO59 COL

This indicates that you have a potentially defective ink cartridge. Pull out the cartridges and make sure that all wrapping has been removed from the nozzles and that the top side wrapping has been removed from the breather area on top. Reinsert the cartridges and make sure they snap into place.
If you are using non-OEM cartridges I would try OEM cartridges. Sometimes, non-OEM cartridge ink will gum up the printer.
Let me know if this solves the problem.
