SOURCE: No am power
Radio dude, What you have is a blown am regulator. The sideband side does not use the mentioned transistor. They use a few different numbers here for the am regulator. One of them is a 2sc1419. On the Uniden Grant they put the transistor on the rear right above the antenna jack. On the 148 they put the transistor back in the right rear of the radio as your looking inside on the speaker side. Fixing it includes unsoldering the transistor and purchasing a replacement and resoldering it back in. This transistor is bolted to the side rail in the rear. I usually use a ECG152 as a replacement. It's not unusual to blow this one if the radio has been tuned. Let me know if your comfortable swapping it out. Otherwise it needs to go to a shop with a decent tech that won't take you to the cleaners. Let me know,, Mechanic

SOURCE: cant hear anyone
Is the squelch off? Is there even a crackle from the speaker? Does it appear to go into transmit?
If you have a friend can listen in while you try transmitting, get him to let you know if voice can be heard, or a carrier appears (on AM). If TX OK, try sideband, if OK, look for faulty speaker/ socket/ wiring. If no audio on TX, suspect the audio amp is bad.

SOURCE: wont talk out.
Hey, stubby, Turn you mic gain wide open on the radio. That controls the modulation. Course if the radio has not been tuned that makes a big difference. Also the size of the antenna and how well it's tuned makes a big difference. Mechanic

SOURCE: drivers for windows vista 64 bit
I am sorry, but I have to tell you that the Sidewinder II is not Vista 64 bit compatible.
Here Microsoft page for Vista compatibility, when they say unknown it means it does not work on Vista 64.
I hope this can save you some time.
