SOURCE: when the 435 camera is connected to the computer,

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I just treated myself to a new laptop with Windows 7. Now my Nikon Coolpix doesn't unload when I plug it into the USB port anymore. Do you have any idea how I can unload it?

How to insert camara card to computer

If you have the original USB cable that came with the camera, there is a rubber flap on the side of the camera. Open that flap and the small end of the USB cable will fit into the plug located there.

Then take the larger end and plug it into a USB port on your computer. Depending on the computer you are using, this can be found on the front of the computer or the back. Sometimes there are also ports on the keyboard or monitor. Any USB port will do.

If you have the HP Image Unload software on your computer, simply turn the camera on. If you get a message asking to 'Select the program to launch' click 'Cancel.'

From this point the HP software will 'unload' your images on to your computer when you click 'Start Unload.'

----------
If you do not have the HP software, you need to change a setting in the camera for it to communicate with the computer.

Before you connect the camera with the computer, turn the camera on. Go to either the playback or capture menu and use the down arrow to select the setup menu (it looks like a wrench icon). Press OK.

Using the arrow keys, go to the 'USB Configuration' option and press OK.

Use the arrow keys and select 'Disk Drive' and press OK

Now connect the camera to your computer and go to 'My Computer'
The camera will appear as if it were a disk drive.
Select the camera and manually copy the image files to your computer.

Are you connecting the camera direct into the computer or using a hub? Try connecting the camera direct to the computer. It looks like you are probably using a hub or port replicator with a number of devices attached. Remove all other devices except your mouse and see,,

Unable to unload pictures from camera to computer

I would never use my camera to transfer pix to computer. I would buy a (usb or other) card reader and save wear and tear on camera.
