Question about Sony KP-53XBR45 53" Rear Projection Television

Sony KP-53XBR45: Concave Picture

I was watching t.v. and then it suddenly went concave on me. I tried unplugging my t.v. to hopefully reset it. If it worked I guess I wouldn't be asking for help... I went to the convergence setup and there's no automatic reset. I could really use some help. Is there a simple solution or should I call a t.v. tech?

When you turn on the picture is not centered - it's horizontal is either high or low - then you turn off and on and the picture is high or low in a different position and could be slightly concave - after turning it on or off a few times it will center itself perfectly and be fine until you turn it off. Same routine each time.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Screen fades to blue after 10 mins of viewing. Sony kp-57hw40

This link has the instructions on how to fix this problem and other similar problems. You have nothing to lose, so I recommend that you try it.

http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html

This works with the two other colors, blue and green also. Not all models of Sony Projection TVs have the red, green, and blue pots in the same order as the picture that is listed on this link, so you may want to google search for your model's service manual. The service manual can also help you be able to remove the cover for your particular model of TV. I was able to find the service manual for my model, and sure enough, the order of the pots are reversed on mine, so I would have been adjusting the wrong color. Read all of the comments on this link too, because you can find other helpful tips and may even find someone with the same model of TV as you that gives more specific instructions for your model.

You may also find your model's service manual here:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/index.pl

I hope this helps you!
Fare well. :)

P.S. you can also clean the mirrors and dry dust while you have it open.
