Re: thermal fuse

I purchased a NTE8115 from my electronics supplier, closest I could find.  Radio shack also has them.

I am hearing a ticking noise from the thermal fuse when I try to turn on my Panasonic Model # PT-50LC14. Is this a quick fix I can do or will I need to have it repaired?

I've never heard a thermal fuse tick in a set, I think what you are hearing is the ballast, this is normal, have you ever changed the lamp in this set, if not that is probably the problem.

It is mounted to the case that holds the lamp.. Its specs read something like L3 250V, 5A, 115C. You can replace it provided you can locate it

Reaccuring problem

The main fuse, it should 5A/250V. The one you bought is 0.5A/250V and it will burn because it can not handle the amount of current that passes through it.
The other fuse that sparks even when the TV is unplug because is the charge of a capacitor that circulates when you place the fuse.
Just curious why you had to change the fuses?

PT-40LC12 fuse problem

I went here for a tech manual for the Panasonic tv.
then ordered
Manufacturer: Panasonic
Part Description: FUSE
Part Number: LSJA0411-1
it was mounted to the case that holds the lamp. had to remove the back panel, etc. Also think I had to splice in the fuse or something. was a while ago.

mine is broken again. this is getting old between lamps and repairs.

Had similar issue but had high resistance across leads. replaced with thermal fuse from RadioShack in the similar temp and everything works great. Info on the original part is on this link. Hope that helps. Chris
