Question about Samsung SyncMaster 172N 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Samsung 172n monitor

I just got a used samsung 172n cheap and for the most part it works fine. I do notice that there is some 'ghosting' of the vertical lines. what I mean is that I see a few echos or ripples of the image which decrease in intensity to nothing and appear to be equally spaced. any ideas? it shows up using two different Dell sx270s, (which I don't see on my CRT monitor) I have a dvi to vga converter on the computer and a 6 foot vga cable. Thanks in advance. Ned

Cable and adapter are common between lcd and crt, and I have another lcd which also does NOT display the problem, so, this isn't a good solution.

The problem is in the Samsung.

    Thanks!

I would not have beleived it if I had not seen it. The cable, with this LCD ONLY, causes this problem. Change the LCD, no prob, change the cable, no prob. Thanks Mukhtar, you were right all along.

First you try with direclty connect to cpu without any convertor and extension cable and see if it work that mean problem with your convertor or may be the cord. if it not showing any changes show it service personnel. bye

I'm back again after about a month away. Back to my problem, horizontal lines and/or interference make watching my Samsung 52" flatscreen impossible. TV is 5 years old. A limited time recall has passe

The TCON board can give you both Horizontal and Vertical lines, it is real easy to fix and fairly cheap. The most I have had to pay for any TCON board has been $45 plus shipping. Mostly what goes bad on these boards are the IC, a part that costs around $5.00 but requires micro-soldiering experience and tools.

My Remington Noiseless 1939 typewriter has ghosting on the letter keys. I have put on a new ribbon but this just shows up the ghosting of each letter more than ever. I notice when typing the carriage

Could also be that your paper is too fibrous of finish. I found this page because my typewriter was ghosting, too. I adjusted some of the settings and there was not a trace of ghosting. I put the settings back and still no trace of ghosting. Then I realized that I tested for ghosting on paper that has a much smoother finish. I was ghosting on cheap paper we use here at work. So, I don't blame the typewriter. I blame the cheap paper. My typewriter just likes good paper.

Samsung 172N 17" LCD monitor blacks out seconds at a time with increasing frequency and eventually displays scrambled graphics until system restart.

The problem I have is that when we connect the screen it wiorks fine then blacks out after 5-40min
It then flickers on and off iregularly and every now and then shows distortion and eventually just blacks out

I have two 172N monitors and both now show the same symptoms

We have used different VGA cables and different computers in different locations all with the same result

There is no external influence that we know
