Go to Lexmark.com click on support, enter model #, click on owners manual, scroll down to the picture that shows the lever that needs to be moved to letter.
There is installation software on the site you can download for free.
Most Lexmark printers lever is above and to the left of the paper tray

2600 series all-in-one series stopped printing

Could you please confirm if your printer is visible from "Devices and Printers" and definately not greyed out? If you send something to the printer does it sit in the print queue? If so what status does the document have?

New color cartridge won't print

Try to re-seat the cartridges in the printer. Open the printer cover > remove the cartridges > close the printer cover > re-brick you printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in, and re-plug after 10 seconds. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

If that doesn't help, the problem could be due to a clogged print cartridge nozzle. Please follow the steps below to fix print quality issues with your model:

  1. On your computer, go to Start menu.
  2. Go to Programs.
  3. Go to Lexmark 2600 Series folder.
  4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.

From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through to clean the print cartridge nozzles.

After printing the test page, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

I ran out of both black and color ink. I replaced the black ink b/c I do not print in color. But I cannot complete the alignment steps without the color ink.

Lexmark printers usually require both cartridges to have ink left in them to continue printing. But try to press the Cancel button for the Alignment process (this is not recommended). Then try to print a document again to verify that you are able to continue printing without an empty color ink.
If that doesn't help, I would suggest you replace your color cartridge with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge.

Try to clean the print cartridge nozzles. On your computer, go to Start menu > All Programs / Programs > Lexmark Z600 Series > select Lexmark Solution Center. From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a clean test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them. Try to print your document again and to check if print quality is achieved.

The printer turns on and I have everything

Sounds like you need a driver downloaded or re-install your soft ware. Make sure ink cartridges are installed properly.

Printer wont print. help!!

Hi albookristin
I believe evrytime you tried to print, they all lined up in a queue for printing. If that is the case, you have to delete everything in the queue
Right click on the printer folder, look under documents, and see there are documents listed. If there are few, delete all of them. In some cases, you may have to print one at a time.

After doing all that, try to print a document. For test purposes type a one line document and try to print it.
Hope this will work for you.
Have a good day

Internet printing issues

When you choose print, the print command window comes up.  At that point look for where it says "print pages" or something similar to that followed by input boxes where you can input pages 1 to 1 or 1 to 3, etc... It allows you to print only the pages you want.  Try to print pages 1 to 1.
Also, generally, some printers print the last page first, it may give you options to change that review the options in that same print window. You may want to uncheck collated box.
These are some suggestions that may help.  If push come to shove. Just go to the webpage...select all, copy and paste it into a word doc, and print there.
Or, just select the part you want to print, then follow the print commands where it say, print selection only.
whew... thats a lot of things to try. but I believe one or all of them may work.
let me know.

Ink level reset button for Lexmark X2690

There really isn't. Lexmark's 'official answer' that I have seen is this:

Genuine Lexmark inks and cartridges are perfectly matched to the printing system to ensure that every document produced is of the highest possible print quality, providing long-term dependable service from your Lexmark printer. Using incompatible inks in an attempt to extend the life of a genuine Lexmark cartridge beyond its recommended usage can cause failures in several different areas of the printer. Any such damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges will not be covered by your Lexmark printer Warranty, Extended Warranty or Service Agreement.

If the error message stopped you from using the refilled cartridges, you shouldn't have damaged the unit in any way.
