Question about Motorola Computers & Internet

Hello: I would like to know if the Motorola

Hello: I would like to know if the Motorola SB6121 cable modem is made to work with Windows 8. I looked at one and also the SB6141 at our local Wal-Mart and noticed that the SB6141 said Windows 8 compatible on the box but the SB6121 made no mention of being compatible. I have a Dell Inspiron 660s desktop with Windows 8 and I'm going to use Time Warner cable as the internet service provider. The SB6121 is less expensive than the SB6141 so I'm hoping to save a little money. Thanks for any reply.

Yes, it's theoretically slower, but that depends on your connection. Which to Buy the Arris Motorola SB6141 or SB6121

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Verizon DSL spotty service

to answer your first question, call verizon to fix the line. it is dropping. Second have verizon change a dsl and test it out.
as far as the tab on the CAT-5, the tab is to lock the cable in place, without it, it will work but you have no insurace as to the connection status. (need cable with tab).

SOURCE: Cannot set up Motorola Surfboard SB5120 modem

This usually means something is not correct with your incoming signal. If your cable wire into the modem is being run off an amplifier in the wall this could be effecting your service. If the signal is too strong the modem won't be able to communicate for internet.

You could check the incoming wire to see if it is running off an amplifier. If it is you would need to run a new line that is not on the amplifier. I would recommend comcast coming out to check the signal frequency and make the necessary adjustments.

SOURCE: Not recognized by cable modem

Turn everything off for 2 minutes, cable modem, router and pc.

Turn on modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to sync to TW.
Turn on router after 2 mins and wait until the router syncs with the modem.
Turn on PC
It sounds like your router lost its connection to the cable modem, which happens from time to time. TW will not help with your router. I worked for a cable co and the router and modem losing sync was the at least 70% of the calls. FYI cable doesn't use DSL,just the phone co.

SOURCE: Hi, I’m facing one issue with D-Link (DCM-202)

Is this a new issue or a recent harware/cable change or did this use to work and now has the disconnect issues.

Ensure that your cable has NO Splitters (especialy outside) from the Drop outside to your modem.

Check all cableing between Computer and Modem to Cable Drop.

You can also look at the Modem Status Page to check your UpStream and DownStream signals. You may have to have someone come out to check out the line running from your house to the pole (or pedestal if its underground)? Many factors can cause an outside cable to deteriorate, and when that happens you can end up with alot of signal leakage and frequent disconnects. And that goes for both overhead and underground lines. Good Luck, and post back if you need more help. (try to include your Modem Status Logs)

I don't see it in the picture searching, but if this function will be able, you will see special button for it somewhere on your modem.

How do I find the bridge mode in sb6121

The Motorola Surfboard SB6121 is a cable modem only - no router included.

You must have a router - after the modem - in the network if you need router duties.

There is no bridge mode in the modem. Bridging the modem basically bypasses the routing function of the device and passes everything on to the next device in line......the router in this case.

Since this modem does not have a router built in - it is always in bridge mode.

Does the motorola sb6121 have a router built in?

Well, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by router, but I can tell you that it only has one physical ethernet port, not 3 or 4. It does have a built-in DHCP server, which means that if you have more than one computer connecting through it (using a wireless access point, for instance), it can assign each of them a separate IP address.
