How do you remove the cutting head on a troy bilt tb625ec

I just bought a tb625ec and i immediatly wanted to switch the head out. Well after about a week of trying i finally had that "walah" moment and figured it out. You simply pop off the bottom of the head(black cap) with a flathead screw driver and the nut and screw that hold it together are right there. The rest pretty much explains itself. I put on an ugly head with ease after getting the regular head off. Worked much better with the ugly head on. Hope this was helpfull.

SOURCE: Troy Bilt Trimmer 75SS stalls at full throttle. new gas

Hello. Let me assist you. Since your trimmer runs but stalls at ful throttle it is telling you that there is a fuel problem. Not enough gas is getting through the carbeurator to satisfy the engines needs on full throttle. Most likely the carbeurator is gummed up. A common problem. Let's see if we can un gum it by getting a can or carbeurtor cleaner. Go to any auto parts store and talk to the clerk about your need.

SOURCE: can not remove troy bilt weedeater head

Once all the bolts are removed, tap all the way around, (with a rubber mallet), where the head meets the bottom portion of the motor. It should come right off with a little coaxing.

SOURCE: line stuck inside head of troy-bilt trimmer

Take an awl or small diameter screw driver, same size or a bit smaller dia. than the line dia., and push it through the hole from the outside of the line head. This should push the piece of old line through the hole.
Recommendation: Leave at least one inch of line on the inside of the head, so you can grab it easily when you have to replace the line. I'll carry a pair of long nose pliers on me when I use my trimmer, so I can easily grab hold of the inside piece to pull it through.

How to put on new belt

https://www.partstree.com/parts/troy-bilt/edgers/tb516ec-25a-516-966-troy-bilt-edger-2011/general-assembly/

Zoom into the diagram, remove (item 45) belt cover to expose the belt and pulleys. Take note of how the belt is routed.! you will need to follow the same route with the new belt. You may need to remove the Blade guard (item 40) if the belt doesn't fit over the head of the guard. There may also be a sprung idle tension pulley, which will take up the slack in the belt once replaced. Looks pretty straight forward.

How do you remove the cutting head from a troy-bilt tb525 ec 4 cycle gas trimmer?

ref: removing cutting head from troy-built trimmer tb525...
Just talked with Troy-Bilt company and got answer on how to remove head. seems that on the tb525, they used 3 heads over the production period. On mine, I had the slot above the head, but there was no deeper hole or notch to engage the screwdriver, etc. My head requires an allen wrench. Use the small part of the "L" shape and angle it into that notch...pointing the tip toward the shaft or engine direction. Then, hold the allen wrench upright and this will lock the shaft. Now you may turn the notched ring on the cutting head in a CCW direction (as you look from bottom to top). It will probably be very tight, but will come off. Hope this helps those who have been having trouble searching for that hole inside the notch that doesn't exist on this particular version. Good luck...

Head will no turn at all can't cut any grass this on my troy bilt weed eater

This sounds like a problem with the drive shaft (s) or the gear head ...partial disassembly of unit to verirfy would be required.

cut to pieces of string about 8 ft long. run your line through the holes on the side of the head. you will see 2 smaller holes on the inside. put the string in those 2 holes and begin turning your head to install the string.

Cannot disassemble Troy-bilt trimmer head

There is a round, rotary black part between the metal piece to which the cutting head attaches and the outer plastic seat of the cutting head. There are two square slots, each about a quarter inch wide, on opposites sides of the black piece. Slide an Allen wrench or something similar firmly into the slot. Holding the Allen wrench in a stable position, turn the outer plastic ring of the cutting head (it has scalloped edges that can be gripped firmly) counter clockwise to unscrew the cutting head from the bolt on which it is mounted. Be careful with the tool (e.g. Allen wrench) used to hold the black piece steady, as it is plastic and could be damaged by the edge of the tool.

Troy bilt mower won't stay running to cut lawn

You may want to check the gas cap to see if it clogged with dirt. If the gas cap is clear, you more than likely have a carburetor problem. If you need tips on carb. cleaning, feel free to ask.
