Question about Hitachi 60V500 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Turns off while watching

While watching the tv it turns off by itself. I am able to turn it right back with no problem, but need to wait until it is in the slower flashing mode before i can do so. This is very annoying. Usually happens at least once if not twice while viewing a night. Can anyone help ? ?

Two main things to check, First check R964 for broken or loose solder connection. Then check I901 Part # CZ00868 might be leaky.

TV Doesn't Turn On
  • Your RCA rear projection TV may not turn on from time to time for several reasons. First, check that the power cord is plugged into a working power outlet. Check that the outlet is receiving electricity by plugging a different device into the outlet. If the other device doesn't work, you may need to replace a fuse or reset a circuit breaker in your home.

If you tried using the remote control to turn on the TV, press the "Power" button on the front of the TV. You may have a problem with the remote control if the TV turns on.

If you tried using the front control panels and haven't tried the remote, press the "Power" button on the remote control. The television controls are blocked if the TV turns on with the remote. To unlock the controls, open the "Parental Control" menu and remove the check mark next to "Front Panel Block."

Finally, your TV may be performing a diagnostic check. These checks are used to find any errors in your TV. Wait a few minutes before trying to turn on the TV again.

TV Turns Off By Itself
  • You may find that your RCA TV turns off by itself on occasion. This is often because the "Sleep Timer" feature was enabled. This feature allows you to place a timer on the television that will turn it off after a specific amount of time has passed. The feature allows you to save on your energy bill and extend the life of your television.

If the "Sleep Timer" wasn't set, the television may have detected a power surge in your home and shut off automatically to protect the components of the television. Wait at least 30 seconds before turning the TV on again.

Finally, if you suspect the television is turning off for a reason other than a power surge, unplug the television and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. This will clear any errors in the television. After 10 minutes, plug the television back into the outlet and resume normal use.

  • Blank Screen
  • A blank screen on an RCA rear projection television is usually caused by a loose connection or an incorrect setting. Check that the coaxial connection on the back of the television is secure or, if you're using an external device such as a DVD player, the video cables are secure. Press the "Ant/Cable" button to switch between tuners if you are watching television, or the "Input" button to switch between input channels if you're watching something from an external device.

Philips 55 inch tv weirdness

If it is turning off by itself then your power supply might be going out. If it does not bother you too much right now I would wait until it gets worst. Depending on how much you use it it may not get worst in months.

We are watching tv and the volume just turns itself all the way up. If we turn it down, it goes right back up. It stays like that for about 15 min at a time and then it will allow me to turn it down until...

check the remote control, take the batteries out and try to adjust the volume on the tv set itself.
If this resolves the problem the button on the remote may be sticking, either clear it or get a universal remote.

If you still have the problem without the remote then its time to take the tv to a repair shop or claim on a warranty.

Hello, I am sorry i did not get back to you sooner!

I found the manual on the internet, you can just copy and paste into your browser to download a copy for yourself if you like.

http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/rcfiles.cgi?area=other&db=devices&br=rca&dv=universalremote&md=rcr4258rcr4358&kw=RCR-4258&st=&ar=&dt=&so=&pg=1&file=others/rca/rcr4358-manual.zip

Here is the simple way of doing it:

0) Turn on TV.
1) Press and hold the TV button, light lights up, continue to hold.
2) Press and hold the power button, light turns off, keep holding both buttons down until light comes back on, release both buttons, light stays on.
3) Point remote towards TV the entire time you are programming.
4) Press and release play button, wait 5 seconds, if TV did not turn off press and release play button again wait 5 seconds. Repeat until TV turns off. (When your TV turns off, it was in the last 10 codes sent).
5) Press and release Reverse button, wait 2 seconds, repeat until TV turns back on.
6) Once the TV turns back on press and release Stop button.
7) Your Remote is now programed! Test it by pressing the power button, volume, mute etc..

Cheers!

Green power light comes on, the turns right back off. No picture. Please help

I'm not sure what TV model you have. But, thing I can tell you is the most common problem.
Most of the time with flat panel TVs, the power supply for the screen fails. And the TV normally turns itself off to protect other parts in the TV from being damaged. Basically " Protection Mode".

You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself; then try again turning it on. If it doesn't work after that, it's time for the TV repair shop.

Akai TV troubleshooting

The solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.
I service these power supplies, for more info write to jah2mil@hotmail.com

My TV turns on and off randomly!

Remove the rear cover & turn set on, pull all the connectors off one at a time and push back on. I have had loose connectors cause this problem, and by doing the above has fixed it. Note do the pull off and push back on of the connectors, with the tv unplugged from the AC outlet.
