Question about Lexmark X1240 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Which black cartridge does this need?

I'm thinking of buying the Lexmark x1240 for home use, but I want to be sure I can get cartridges without paying a lot! I'm not sure if it uses #16, as I have trouble finding the info for this one. That makes me nervous, because I'm worried it will be hard to find cartridges. Also, can I refill them myself?

Yes you can refill the cartridges. Also Walgreen's refill cartridges now. $10. for black and $15. for colr cartridge refills. I've been using their refills and they work fine. It's less mess that doing it myself. And they use good quality ink... But you can refill them. They also carry universal refill kits at walgreen also. Also the cartridges are not hard to find you can order them at several places online. Google x1240 for sites. Also Staples sell the cartridges.

Can not get the color to work in my lexmark x1240 printer to work? we tried to refill the old cartrage first but it leaked after a couple uses than we bought a new cartrage but it won't work.

Make sure that you are using genuine Lexmark cartridges and not refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges from the 3rd parties. Lexmark products work best with original supplies. If you are using genuine cartridges yet the problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

This problem is with our church library Lexmark 1240 printer. We put a new black #17 inkjet in, but it prints only blank pages and we have 22 books awaiting labels. When I click on "print...

I believe this is a Lexmark X1240, THis printer is the same as a Dell A920, I do not have a manual for it but in the past I had a user with a similar issue. They had not removed the plastic from the ink cartridge before the inserted the cartridge. Please remove the cartridge and make sure all plastics from the nozzle area have been removed. If that dosen't work then try another print cartridge. Also visit the Lexmark website to make sure you have the latest drivers for the printer, this might resolve the "no labels" issue.

Hope this helps.

How to replace the ink cartridge

1. Look at the indicator light on your Lexmark printer. You'll need to replace ink cartridges when the light flashes or turns red instead of the standard green.

2. Purchase Lexmark ink cartridges. You can buy the brand name or purchase a generic version that is compatible with your printer. You can shop for low cost ink cartridges from ABC Ink.

3. Remove the old cartridges from your printer. Grip the sides of the Lexmark ink cartridges and pull it out. Dispose of the ink cartridges in a recycle program like the one at Staples or save the cartridges for refill.

4. Install the new ink cartridges after removing the protective tabs. Avoid touching the IC chip when installing the new Lexmark ink cartridges. Replace the cover of the printer.

5. Allow the Lexmark printer to run a nozzle test. Print several pages with the new ink cartridges to make sure you installed the ink cartridges correctly. The indicator light should return to a solid green color.

Prints out black, but not in color, both cartridges are new.

Two things i cna think of.
1. When you click print, a printer dialog box comes. You select your lexmark printer. Then you can click on printer properties. In the printer properties dialog box see is there is an option to print black&white. You have to uncheck that option.
2. printer cartridge is not properly installed in the printer. Once again open the printer and take out the colour cartridge and put it back in the cartridge holder and press it firmly.

Was given a Lexmark 1200 series X1240 all in one and cannot determine what type of ink cartridge to use.

The Lexmark X1240 printer uses #16 and #17 for Mono/Black, and #26 and #27 for Color. Hope this helps.

My Lexmark 1240 printer has a new Bkack ink in it (Lexmark 16 cartridge) but still does not print black text or lines.

Check to make sure you have removed the plastic covering on the new ink cartridge contact.  Run a calibration/alignment test on your printer. (If you're not sure how to do this, Google "how to align cartridges on----- your modle printer).  Finally, you may want to do a "hard-reset" on the printer. Turn it off, unplug it for 30 seconds and try again. Good luck!
