Broken Part - Battery Door

The door for my batteries is broken and will not stay shut to keep them in place. I need to order a new part if this is possible or somehow get this fixed so I can keep the batteries in my camera. How do I go about this, and who do I contact? Thanks!

This appears to be a common problem with the Z5's as the clip that holds the battery door closed broke on my camera and I have been using velcro to hold it closed. Sony has taken over all factor repairs and they charge a minimum of $180 for repairing this $10 part.

It is not too easy to change the door, but can be done.
You have to "tear" away the rubber from the handle. There are a couple of screws under the rubber to remove. The righter part of the batteryholder is kinda loose at that point. You can use a little screwdriver to open enough gap from right side from the point A. Then you can slide the battery door loose and replace a new one.Broken Part - Battery Door - a298e8d.jpg

I ordered (and just received) a battery door from Sony, but I cannot figure out how to install it. The 7 screws that are visible in that area of the camera when removed do not loosen anything up.

My new battery door is now installed! Our local Radio Shack repairman was able to do it and I watched over his shoulder as he did it.
Believe me, it is not a job for the faint of heart. The screws visible on the bottom of the camera are just a small part of what has to be removed. It seems there are also a bunch of screws under the rubber on the right side of the camera, and at least some of them must be removed after peeling the rubber off. Even then it was necessary to sort of force the old door off and the new door on.
Like I said - not for just anyone!

Battery door won't stay closed on Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S90 Digital Camera

The battery door latch is most likely damaged/broken. Try using a piece of duct tape to keep it closed. I've done this on several cameras with battery door latch issues & the doors stayed shut just fine.

Use electrical tape for holding the door or you need to visit service center for replacing the complete door.

I can't get the power button to stay on and the camara keeps shut

Hi,
Battery lid will be replaced as its tabs could be broken that hold and lock it in its place. I'm talking about Sony DSC-S500 camera.
It can be replaced easily, let me know if you need part number info.
Thanks.

The batteries keep popping out when I open the case.

Your battery door or surrounding casing is broken. It's a common problem with this model (especially for units with the side battery door). Unfortunately, your only options are to tape the door shut or get a new calculator. If only the door, and not the casing, is broken you can try to find just the battery door.

Nikon Cool Pix 7900 Battery door won't stay closes

There are plastic clips on the battery door and body of the camera that lock the door in place. If they are broken of the battery door the door can be changed. If the clips on the body are broken the camera as a rule is history. Replacing a camera body is not a feasible repair.

the part you are looking for is not selling separately.Your best bet is to keep the battery compartment door in place with scotch tape or other strong tape after you insert new batteries and look on ebay or craigs list for a similar camera which is defective and they are selling it for parts. You should be able to find one within a month or I can look for one for you and email you withe the link.just let me know

I just wanted to follow up that we ordered the replacement part from the website another poster listed:
http://www.digitalcamerapartsdepot.com/Olympus_Parts/VK127200.asp

The part came in three days and it was SO EASY to replace. You just need a tiny Phillip's head scewdriver and about three minutes. Remove the three small screws that attach the faceplate to the camera (one on the bottom, two on the side). The faceplate pops right off and exposes the hinge that holds the battery door in place. Remove the final screw that holds the hinge in place. Reuse the original spring, pop the new door in place and then replace the faceplate.

Just like new! :)

I suspect you won't be able to buy the part. However, you might be able to fashion a suitable piece of plastic and glue it in place using an expoy resin adhesive like araldite. Or use gaffer tape to hold it shut! Samsung may be willing to repair it but it'll probably cost you.
