Prints light purple instead of grey

Canon PIXMA MX850

The printer is recently printing Excel sheets light purple shading instead of grey shading. It also prints pink instead of grey in Access. It just started doing this THIS week. Any one else with this problem or a fix?

I think your Black Cartridge is Empty. Check it and replace it with the new one.

Your Printer is trying to produce Black Colour from your Colour Cartridge with a mix of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.

The solutions made by others are quite valid. Also, do check and see if the colour on your screen matches the colour in your prints. There should be a way to align the colours pretty closely... check your instruction manual. Also, select or install the ICC colour profile for your printer as it most closely resembles screen colour and was designed to function in most circumstances better than other colour profiles. Bear in mind that Adobe also has its own set of colour printing profiles called "AdobeRGB" primarily used for its Photoshop series of products. Another point, install the proper monitor drivers for your monitor too, do not rely on Plug 'n Play to install the ICC profile for your monitor. (The ICC colour profile looks like a triangle in the colour profile selection set-up for your printer or monitor.) Graphics card or imbedded chip drivers can also affect colour rendering too. Go to the manufacturer's website to download and install the proper drivers for your operating system. This is best way to ensure you'll get a better colour match between your monitor and your printer. For Intel imbedded graphics chips only, go to the Intel site and install their Chip Identification Utility first and then use their search engine to locate any updated drivers for your computer's Intel hardware in your operating system. SiS, VIA, and ASUStek offer good ID utility software on their sites too for their motherboards with imbedded graphics chips. For OEM NVIDIA and RADEON graphics, visit their sites. For third-party graphics cards with others graphics chips (NVIDIA or AMD RADEON) installed... visit their sites for updated drivers. I hope this helps.

Mx850 canon all in one. was working fine then the alarm light came on and screen shows error code 6A00??? have tired moving the ink cartrigde device, unplugged and pluged back in ... checked everywhere...

6A00] or Light blinking 12 times = AP position error. It's mean there is an error occurred in the AP motor during purging operation. You may need to replace Sheet feed unit, logic board or purge unit. Thank you

The color prints sheet is coloring light purple instead of grey. I check the black ink but is still half full.

grey is often made up of all the colours, so if the greys are purple it would be the Yellow missing or not printing completely. Try a printer head clean.

Colours of printed photos are wrong.

Have you run the head cleaning cycle recently? It should be under "Printer", "Maintenance" tabs.

Prints light

When your printer begins to print light, that is usually an indication of the ink running low. Replace your ink cartridge and see if that helps.

Pixma MX850

I was working on the Pixma mx850 for 3 weeks now. I have found that you need to reset the using back to factory default. On the display look for the "printer head" cleaning and alignment. Go through the steps that it gives you for printer head cleaning. Print a test page. have you tried to copy in "black/whte" and not color? that will use the large black and not the small black cartrdge. Try a couple of black circles in "paint" if your running windows XP. make a test page of your own and print it.

Duplex printing flips page

That should be a setting somewhere in the printer or the print driver on the computer.
Here's a link to the manuals that comes with it.

Canon Pixma 9500 suddenly starts producing light prints

I'm not sure if this is possible with the 9500 (it won't be if the 9500 uses chipped cartridges)...

But have you installed the photo version of a Magenta or Cyan in the Non-phone cartridge... ie: PM instead of M, or PC instead of C.

It's a long shot as I don't know that particular models age, etc... but it's been done (by me included *blush*).
