Re: fridgedaire stove top micro oven

Blown 20 amp fuse inside the cabinet. You could try just replacing the fuse, but experience on these says that it blew out for a reason. Something has shorted out inside the cabinet; magnetron, transformer... I highly recommend contacting a local appliance repair company and have them come diagnose this for you. They'll have to remove it from above the stove to gain access for diagnosis, big job! I know this is not what you wanna hear, but they are trained on these and have the necessary tools for removal and proper diagnosis. (plus, if they mess anything up getting it down from there... they are insured) To make things go faster, remember to tell the dispatcher that it's an over the range microwave... this way, the tech will be sure to bring the necessary tools on the first trip.

Microwave won't work, I was cooking on the stove and the fan came on and then everything went out on the microwave suddenly

There is a thermostat which detects when the temperature from the cooktop is too high, and it makes the hood vent exhaust fan come on to cool it to protect the controller.

That's I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls and door panels.

Assuming the wall outlet is good, the first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

If it's still dead, another thermostat may be blown,or the fuse.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts here.

I'd recommend that your bookmark this link to your favorites.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Usually the fuse and magnetron thermostat will be accessible for testing behind the controller.

If those are good, then it may be a bad oven cavity thermostat, and checking that will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

Behind the controls in many microwaves is a technical sheet, which helps in locating and testing components.

If the microwave is above the stove, the heat sensors in the microwave
may turn on fans to cool it even though the microwave itself is not
running. It tries to save its life. It should turn off when the stove is not
heating it.

Lg LMV1630st stainless steel microwave oven

I'm confused. If it's 6 weeks old, you can get it repaired free.

If it's 1-1/2 years old, the manufacturer will cover the part cost of the magnetron (assuming that's what's wrong) and you will have to pay for labor and any other needed parts.

Also, the subject line mentions a model LMV1630ST while your message body mentions model LMV1680BB.

For Goldstar / LG / customer service, help, call 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit here.

Chances are your problem is a bad magnetron, but it may be another high voltage part.
