Question about HP Compaq Presario V6000Z (RK664AV) PC Notebook

V6000Z HP laptop which will not start up, but cycles on and off.

Hi, I have a V6000Z HP laptop, about 2 yrs. old. When I turn on the power, all the blue lights turn on and you can hear sounds like it is trying to start, but the screen stays black, and after about 10 seconds, it turns everything off. In about 2 seconds, it automatically starts the cycle all over again, and keep turning on and off until you finally give up and hold down the power switch. My hubby was able to trick it once by putting a dvd in and turning on the dvd play only switch, then finally getting it to come all the way up. He flashed the bios, and the computer worked okay for a few days, but now will not start up again. It doesn't seem to matter whether the AC cord is plugged in or not. Does anyone have any ideas please? Thank you in advance!!

    Thank You. HP is sending a box for me to return my laptop for servicing. It sounded to them that my problem was covered under their "Enhanced warranty". Yea!

Hi... first of all i wanna tell you that HP won't fix it for free because its 2 year old and warranty must have got expired. Also, I wanna give you solution of your problem also. Actually, this problem can have only two reasons. Either faulty RAM or Motherboard problems... Since motherboard is costly i would recommend you to replace your current RAM with new one and then check it. If its still showing same problem then I'm sure some module of Motherboard has problems and you will need to send for repair. But replacing RAM is most commong solution to such problems.. RATE this solution if it was really helpful to you...

    Hii...i can understand. And this is very common problem with laptops. This happens only because of faulty RAM or motherboards. Since motherboard is very costly, so i will recommend you to take replace RAM with a new one. Even if it shows same problem then i am sure its Motherboard problem and you will have to contact manufacturer to either replace it or repair it... RATE my solution if it was helpful for you...

Turn on problem


Does it work with the power cord connected? If so, you can try to update the BIOS. You can download the file to do that from the manufacturer's web site. Hope that helps.

Your monitor probably has roasted capacitors. And your warranty is probably passed. Happens to a lot of different brands too. The capacitors are cheap, and not too hard to replace if you posess the soldering tools and skills. If you can't do it yourself, finding a shop to do the work can be tough, and may be pricey. Some opt to sell on ebay and just get another monitor.

Hi,

Please follow the steps given below and check the functionality.

Bypass the surge protector
=============================

If the all-in-one is plugged into a power strip, remove it from the power strip and plug it directly into a wall outlet.


Power Cycling
=====================
1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.
6. Restart your computer and check the functionality.

* Turn on the printer/unit and disconnect the power cord from the unit then perform the reset.

==== Partial Reset ====

Press and hold # and 3 button on the unit while plugging in the power cord.

Screen turns black suddenly


Hi guys!
I think your problem is one of the following:
1- AC Device or Batteries.
2- RAM.
3- Graphic Card.

So, plz check them by order.
I hope this problem is solved.
