If your on a mac, and you clicked the red close window circle (top left of itunes window), you haven't quit itunes yet, to quit properly and stop it playing music use command + tab to go back to itunes, then press command + q to quit

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I've used my Ipod for 5 years. Now when i try to put new music on it says its not communicating because its not installed correctly. It says to reinstall the software. will I loose my existing playlist?

You probably have been installing newer versions of iTunes onto your PC/Mac for several years, without losing your iTunes Library, and without losing your playlist(s). So, reinstalling iTunes, just once more, should behave identically.

If you are "worried", then open your My Documents Folder.
Then, make a backup copy of your "My Music" folder,
and its subfolders.

Itunes not playing files at all.

Hi there,

There could be one of two probelms. Either the files aren't coppied into the itunes music folder when you import them, and they have been deleted from their original location. This means that the link itunes uses to points to the files obviously wont find them since they're gone.

To change this go to preferences, then advanced, then tick the check box next to import music into itunes folder.

Or, when you upgraded, the itunes files were somehow moved and itunes can't find them any more. You can correct this by clicking on the file to play music, and when it asks you if you want to locate the file, select yes, and search through your computer to your itunes folder (or wherever the files are kept), and select those as your music files. It should now build a new link to that file, and play your music.

Hope this helps,

Nathan.

Playlists & thousand songs dissappeared from itunes

if you synch it yes it will wipe it out - you can get software to back your ipod back to your computer so I would personally delete all the play lists and re do it. your music will be in my documents --> music --> itunes so you can re add it that way and re sort the playlists.

If its on mac os then it will be under your music folder ( macintosh hd --> users --> your username --> music --> iTunes

It may be that your itunes library file may have gotten corrupted so once you have gotten it sorted out close down itunes and go back into your music folder and itunes folder and make a backup copy of your itunes library files.

Assuming your not moving your music files around in side of the music or itunes folder it should be fine.

I pod wont sync /missing file

I think you may have some how deleted you itunes library file. It's default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
the file is called "iTunes Library.itl"
You can delete the whole itunes file but all of you music may be deleted.
Good luck and i hope this somehow helps.

Ipod to pc music play

You can only transfer music from an ipod to a computer if they were purchased through itunes.

If that's the case, right click on your ipod's name under devices. Then click Transfer music.
