-   it freezes and im not able to get to my messages or anything else matter of fact...it forces me to restar the phone..then when it do get restarted it still acts up-   Guest

-   My Wing also freezes when typing text or instant messages. Eventually the phone freezes up completely and I have to take the battery out to restarT it.

I'm on my 5th Wing now and I have had this problem with every one that I have had and T Mobile refuses to replace my phone with an altogether different model.

I got my current Wing over a month ago to replace the previous Wing that was freezing up. Now my new one is also freezing up and doing the exact same thing the last one was doing.

It also won't hang up or pick up phone calls or it will randomly dial numbers. My other Wings did that as well. I'd love the Wing were it not for this problem. But alas, I have to call T Mobile and ask them to send me another phone yet AGAIN! T Mobile's customer service sucks and I think I am about ready to end my contract with them. I joined T Mobile last year and it has not been a good experience.-   t_ren26

-   The only problem I have with the wing is the constant window that says i dont have enuf internal memory. I have tried to delete so many things now and try to transfer them to my storage card, but to no avail. It has freezed on me a couple times, but the processor is not that fast, so you have to wait for the processes to finish first. If you hit the keys to many times or try to do several things at once, it freezes like an old computer. Other than that...I love my wing!-   nadsa45

-   Same exact problem. First it would only freeze when the keyboard was out for texting, but now it freezes once I get to the reply screen and try to type in anything. Very frustrating. -   Guest

I have reached my frustration threshold with my tmobile wing. I feel like I wasted my money on this product. Can't send text messages, constant low memory message even though I have downloaded only 1 application, constant freezing up and locking up, quite often I have to pull the battery out from the back because the phone just stops--I mean the list goes on an on.

I can't believe a person can spend this amount of money for such a faulty product.

The problem with the T-Mobile wing is that it has the same 200MHZ processor as its predecessor, and therefore Windows Mobile 6 is sluggish on it. What I would suggest it a) doing a hard reset, or b) completely wiping out all of the data on the phone and start fresh (remember to backup your contacts and email accounts). Also, check out the task manager and see what programs are running in the background, kill whatever your not using because the Wing does not have a lot of internal memory and the OS sucks most of the free memory right up, and this can lead to the phone being super slow. If worst comes to worst, send it back to T-Mobile to have them check it out, you might have a bad processor, or bad memory within the device.

Ok. So stumbled across this page because I was having the same problem, i.e. all of a sudden the wing was moving unbelievably slow and would lock up if I tried to text. I pulled out the battery, classic, and then I pulled out the sim card. Then I put the battery back in and started it with out the sim card. I unlocked the phone with my code, I couldn't do the second "unlock" because there was no sim card. However, I could play solitaire, look at memory; ya know, mess with the basics. Then I turned the phone off with the power button, pulled the battery out, put the sim card back in, turned the phone on and now everything is great! I have even texted with no problems! hope this works for you!!!

Look for Herald which is the HTC version for the phone. The best option is to install a different ROM on the phone. The ROM that is released with the device from T-Mobile is the main issue, not necessarily the processor(which doesnt help anything). I'm currently running Windows Mobile 6.1 on my T-Mobile MDA just fine.

The forum should have the information for flashing a different ROM on the phone, but be aware that this may void the warranty and if done incorrectly can brick it, which is fine if its under warranty, just replace it. :D

If you are using windows mobile 6, basically all you have to do is go into your settings and close all running programs.

Here are the steps:

Closing out of running programs

* Hit Start button.
* Go to Settings.
* Tab over to System.
* Scroll down to Memory.
* Tab over to Running Programs.
* Select programs that you want to close and hit Stop or Stop All

You guys are confused first off the wing is cool its not as fast overclocked as the mda but once you get the basic problems out its a charm tried many roms like ten of them on my wing and used them for a bit the best one that worked is called OTP (open touch project) otpv7.70 build 20755 its wm 6.1 its solves alot of proplems accociated with wm6 the fone has no problems its just the rom it contains touch flo not the 3d one just the scroll second you must have a expansion memory card to install everything that can resid on the expandle memory e.g. appz , games, pictures; reson being you want enough free memory available for your programs and fone second you must install a memory managment software known as memmaid best one i found! second install batterystatus v.05.140 not the new **** it has to be this one and overclock your cpu to 247 max! you will see increased speeds and ram availability! and its very stable been using for four months now zero problems!

The best solution to fix this problem is to SLAM dunk your wing in the trash can and get another phone.  Right now I am on my 3rd wing and its about to be 4 here really soon.  Personally I think that T-Mobile should be held accountable for selling such a faulty product.  My biggest mistake when purchasing the wing was not looking at forums and customer reviews to find out what others thought about this phone... I just can't wait until my contract is up and I can dump this phone for good.

if you would clean out the messages and get rid of some programs then it would work alot better. also you can put the favorite five on hide it saves space. what you should look at is the memory in system setting. if it under 10.00mb on the free storage and programs it will run slow.you don"t have to be special to know that.

Install NEW ROM FROM T-Mobile, it frees up about 10 megs of storage on the device. After that, install the Battery Status Today Plugin and get control of your apps. Note: use the taskmanager app that comes with all the Wing ROMs to close apps instead of putting them in the background (still running and consuming resources). Come on people, it's not that bad. I can download and resend emails up to 6MB! I only have to reset once in a blue moon. Clear your Pocket IE cache and clear your messages from each account regularly. No more problems. Read'em and weap chumps

the T-mobile wing is very inefficient with application and operating system memory use. The more application you use the sooner your system will eventually freeze up. This happens on all wings and T-mobile is aware of the issue. Just shutting down applications is not enough to prevent freezes. The recommended solution from T-mobile if you want to call it that is to fully power off the wing once every 24 hours and removing the battery in the process does not hurt either. Then fully power up the phone again. This is not a phone that can be hevily used and left on for weeks at a time without a full power cycle.

I think I know what the problem is. You might have auto-fix or something like that on your phone. You have to go to your settings and turn that off. Sorry that it's a vague answer, I forgot the exact steps.

i had those problems with my wing early on ... i'd suggest software that manages memory. sktools works great. it frees up RAM and also can adjust settings that maximize memory available. mine has been running great since i installed it.

i hate this damn phone

I have the same problems. Whenever I type something online or while texting it'll freeze.
To text or write something I type in the address bar on internet explorer and then copy and paste it, it works! But it's not not solving the problem. Atleast you can type there.
I'm going to reboot my phone right now...haha. We'll see what happens...

My phone feeezes and drags .. im not able to send text

Comment by ginger_kidz, posted on Sep 19, 2008

Same thing happens to me. My phone will freeze up when I'm texting or will be very delayed. Sometimes if I close the texting/messaging and then try to open a new text right away, it simply will not do anything. It's annoying. I rarely even have anything else running; I mostly use my phone for texting, but it still is slowwwwwww. Sometimes if I clear all my messages and "clean up" my phone by deleting stuff taking up memory it runs a little better.

This phone is kinda teh ****.

Comment by pmarks36, posted on Aug 04, 2008

All of teh above...Black Screen, Freezes, slow to no response to inputs...I agree with the person that said this phone was a waste of money and productivity. I even tried resetting the memory.

My wing simply just freezes and keeps restarting itself while i text.... any solutions

Comment by rumstick, posted on Apr 05, 2008

My problem is not quite the same, but the solution is. In my case, the entire center of the display goes black. I can still see the menu bar across the top of the vertical screen, and the keyboard at the bottom, but 90% of the screen is black. The only way to jump start the thing is to pull the battery out and restart. It fires up fine, for a while. This has happened 4 or 5 times over the course of thae last couple weeks.

When I start t write a text message, the phone freezes and i can write like 4 words before it freezes. I have to remove battery in order to restart it

Comment by BEEZNUTTS, posted on Feb 17, 2008

I'm sorry, I can't believe that the wing is such an utter piece of S*** and waste of money. I had the MDA before this and it ran SO much better (I LOVED my MDA!). The wing is TOO SLOW for Windows Mobile 6!!! I have to reset my phone AT LEAST 5 times a day which is completely unacceptable. Thats not even a soft reset - If my Wing freezes or gets even just a little slow it WONT EVEN RESPOND to a soft reset - you ALWAYS have to pull the battery out and then restart the phone. TERRIBLE. WORST PRODUCT ON THE MARKET TODAY!!!! DO NOT BUY, in fact I urge you to punch your nearest T-Mobile employee in the face. If anyone has a better Idea then please let me know.
