I it is an electrical smell, then you have a bad motor, if a rubber smell, you may have a bad belt and/or brush roll.

SOURCE: Bosch Vacuum Cleaner: I changed

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

It sounds like you may have a bad thermal switch inside the machine. Most vacuum cleaners have a switch connected to the motor, so if the vacuum cleaner is running hot, it will shut off to prevent any damage to your motor. You did all the right things by checking the bag, making sure the hose was NOT clogged, and replacing HEPA filter.

Most of the time on canister vacuums, the reason is caused by a clog in the hose, or somewhere in the powerhead. If you're sure that there is no clog anywhere, it is going to be the thermal switch on the motor.

Here's a link to the parts schematic for the Bosch upright vacuum. I hope it helps you in determining how to access the thermal switch. A word of warning to you before you try it, this is a very tough vacuum cleaner to work on, you may want to bring it in to a vacuum repair shop, as this is not an easy repair.

Filter mesh holder is damaged, locking holes are broken will not lock in place - need new filter mesh

Hi Joe: The model has been discontinued and difficult to find replacement parts. I located a few online suppliers offering a HEPA Filter that fits the BUC11700UC. See here:

http://www.vacuumcleaners.net/bosch-buz200hcuc-hepa-filter-for-bagless-jet-upright.html or

http://www.allergybegone.com/boshepfilfor4.html or

http://www.wikio.com/product/vacuum-parts-accessories-compatible_with_bosch-reviews-12020-page3-sort0.html

Is this the part you are looking for? The third site above does offer other replacement parts if you are looking for a different filter piece.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Blown vacuum fuse?

Sounds like you got a clog in the hose, which depleted the suction. After getting clogged the motor was working overtime and burned up. If your vacuum is still under warranty you should bring it to a warranty repair center to be fixed. Changing a motor in a vacuum is almost as expensive as buying a new vacuum cleaner. So if your vacuum is out of warranty I think you should probably buy a new one.

The bag slips into the holder which should be attached to the machine. If you have taken this out by mistake and thrown it you'll have to contact Bosch to order a new bag holder.
