Power From The House

Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

Door Switch

If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the switch

Thermal Fuse / Thermal Cut out

On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel or behind the front panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing or is sometimes round and made of metal and plastic.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replace the fuse this is the most common reason for blowing the fuse. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Wiring

Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.

Main Control

The main control board may have failed. To check this check the two main feed leads entering the control refer to the tech sheet located on your dryer. The two leads are usually a separate plug of heavy wire. Check to see if power is entering you should have 120 volts. If not the problem is not the control. If you have power coming in and nothing is illuminated the main control faulty, replce or the Timer will be replace

Dryer power is on. When I set the cylce and push start nothing happens. Already checked the belt and it is fine.

Have you check go see it you are getting a full 220v to the dryer, assuming it's electric. If there's only one leg of the power the control power would come on, but nothing else would work.

Dryer check filter light keeps blinking and dryer will not start cleaned lint filter and nothing happened display on control board blinks when dryer is turned on and that's about it can you assist dyer...

There is a reminder light to "Check Lint Filter" near the lower right of the cycle knob. It will come on every time the power button is pushed. After cleaning the lint filter, if the "check lint screen" light does not go off, it is likely that the touch pad control will need replacement.

Having problem with my Electric Maytag. I push the start button and nothing happens.. The model bumber is pyet344ayw..

Have you checked the circuit breaker? I would start there. Dryers run off 220v, and sometimes only one leg of the breaker trips. so you need to flip the breaker all the way off, and then back on. sometimes the breaker feels off when it's not. make sure you completely trip it off then back on. Does the dryer light work? is there any indication that it's getting some power? If the breaker is fine and your still not getting power, then the next step is to make sure you have power coming to the plug behind the dryer. At this point you should only continue if your comfortable working with electricity. Once you move the dryer you can check the outlet with a meter, or other circuit tester. If you got power here, then you'll need to start checking things on the dryer. you can remove the plate where the cord goes into the dryer and look for loose or burnt wiring there. If that looks ok, then you'll need to start taking the dryer apart; front panel, top, back, etc, as needed to access the wiring and controls. From here you can trace the wiring from the supply to the controls and to the motor, etc. look for anything burn, If nothing looks out of place you can start checking temp sensors, or fusable links. If this is above your head, then stop where your not comfortable and have checked by a service tech.

My dryer doens't start up

Depends on if you can hear any noise when you hit the start button or turn the knob. If there is a hum or some sound then could be belt or motor problems. If there is no sound dead, then you are checking the right area, there are kill switches in different places on dryers. one is like you checked the door switch, and another may be in back when you open the cover to check. Maybe fallen out of place. These sw. are for your safety and sometimes they malfunction. Hope this help!
