Driver side handle replacement

in most vehicles, replacing the handle entails removing the inside of the door to access the mechanisms inside. there usually isn't a way around this. a repair manual can assist with directions on how to go about doing this type of project.

Need to replace drivers side door handle?

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. If it's the inside handle, you'll need to disconnect the rod from the back of the handle. If it's the outside handle, you'll need to pull back the weather seal and use a socket wrench (10mm or 11mm I believe) and remove the mini bolts holding the outer handle on, be careful as I believe the lock cylinder is also held on by the same bolts. then you should be able to pop off the handle (disconnect the rod first)

How do you remove the drivers side door handle on a 2000 GMC pick

Hi those are somtimes a pain ,I,m not sure which part your at on your job but once you release the linkage that is attached inside your door panel then you should be able to remove the nuts or screws that hold the door handle in from the inside then when you get the handle out from the truck then remove the lock ,also put some masking tape around the paint on the outside of the door ,because when remove the handle from the door and putting it back in you may have to angle the handle a bit for it to fit back into place ,sometimes a long pick with a 45degree tip on it helps alot when removing the inside linkage ,hope this helps ,let me know if I can help further!

Installing exterior driver side and passaner side door handles

I found this on another page, hope it helps:)

Remove the plastic cover behind the door handle assembly by removing one black 14mm nut from just above the door handle, and 1 screw (usually phillips) from the bottom of the plastic cover.
Remove linkages from lock cylinder and door handle assembly. Use a small flathead screwdriver to slide retaining clips forward, and linkages will come free.
Remove one black 14mm nut from the very top of the door handle assembly.
Remove one phillips screw drom the bottom of the door handle assembly.
Door handle assembly should now come free by pulling out slightly at the top, and pulling upwards.
Transfer lock cylinder and key minder light (if applicable) to new door handle assembly. Lock cylinder is retained by a single TORX bolt.
Reinstall in reverse.
TIP: If you lose or damage any of those black plastic coated nuts, order new ones. They are GM p/n 10067214 and should be around $0.58/each. There are two on each door.

2000 lx 470 driver door panel

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door
